The flipper hum is a must have! Also on Android the taps sounds could be louder. There is a major delay on hearing the slingshot sound after the ball has hit it - so much so I thought the sound was missing. Anyone else getting this?
Although that maybe true I am not so sure. Pinball FX is fantasy pinball whereas PA is a Pinball simulation/emulation. It's more like EA publishing FIFA and Super Mario Soccer. I for one wouldn't have tried FX if I hadn't read comments in this forum because the unreality of it didn't appeal...
Just bought Big Shot on Android, although won't buy Scared Stuff until XBox and PC version comes out.
At last an EM. One thing that would makes this and future EMs a touch better is if the table sounds were louder and more emphasised. Sounds when the ball bounces/tap on top of gates and posts...
The complainers do become tiresome, but as you say there aren't that many of them. There are some people who will always find something to moan about, instead of concentrating on the positives, of which there are many.
I know where you are coming from. I am a programmer now of boring old trading systems for banks and alike but I have to say I never had so much fun as I did as a kid programming in 6502 assembler on an Atari 400. I remember dabbling with display list interrupts DLI and VBIS etc. It's tempting...
I didn't know there was a Midnight Magic for the VCS - will try and check it out in an emulator. Talking about the VCS, I have reading the book 'Racing the Beam' recently which contains some interesting stuff from the VCS programmers.
I also paid similar for the Pro-pinball tables back then, and to be honest if Silverball Studios manage to release the revamped Pro-Pinball and it goes for £20-30 I would quite happily pay for it.
I also agree that the 69p price-tag for games is becoming ridiculous and it quite insulting to...
Karl - If I remember correctly if you got the Atari logo 3 or 4 times you got an extra ball I think upto a max of 9. It was possible to nudge the ball (or square pixel :)) with the joystick to get it to keep getting the rollover. I loved the VCS particularly the 'woodie'.
I
At last an EM - it has a nice ball reflection, so hopefully the table lights will reflect as well.
I think the reason I love EMs so much is I like the idea of mechanical moving parts, the sounds they make. There is something special about them.
Can relate to that 100%!
Around 1980 I thought Atari Video Pinball would be the best Pinball Experience you could ever get on a screen.
At the time I paid over £20 for one table on a cartridge, and I played it to death. In today's that is probably around £40-£50.
Now look what we now get...
Thanks for that explanation - I had a read on the Steam website but couldn't make sense of what they saying. I want to be positive about Steam, but one can't help think that they make up the rules as they go along, and if they don't like something it won't ever get on there.
This Origin lot sounds good and no fees for 3 months for developers. Plus it has the added benefit of being able to tell Steam to go and s*rew themselves.
Seriously it does sound good and must be worth considering for FS.
Valve must be looking at the sales of Slamit Big Score and alike are thinking PA won't sell, without looking at he popularity on other platforms and the Kickstarters. Either that or someone there can't abide Pinball.
