Thanks for the information, gust334. I ended up getting cabinet mode because I prefer view 4 (total top-down) to any of the TATE / normal views. Played around with it some and it looks like the playfield monitor has to be portrait or it doesn't work, which is a shame as it is physically big...
Never mind, figured it out. Yeah, TATE isn't as good as true cabinet support (at least based on the videos showing it in operation). Second question -- for now my setup would be a large (65") TV in landscape with a small (20" or so 16:9) monitor for the backglass / DMD. Does cabinet mode...
Uggggh. Now I'm torn about what to do. Buying both is a very, very unappealing option. As for Steam (seasons) vs. FarSight (seasons and individual tables), I hate it. I ended up double-dipping on a few seasons I bought through FarSight as well as the Kickstarter tables just to ensure I had...
Yeah, the need for me to hunt down a Kinect 3D even if I went the Arcooda cabinet route is annoying, means I'll either go the $149 (I do have all seven non-pro seasons purchased via Steam, not FarSight) or $499 non-Arcooda cabinet route. The advantage of the $499 is that it is completely...
Sorry, one more question -- Will the Arcooda cabinet itself include the Kinect 3D hardware? I'm torn between going the $149 route and hopefully building a cabinet or taking the deep plunge and ponying up for an Arcooda cabinet (though pricing may kill that, haha) -- if their table includes...
I was wondering if the graphic enhancements (lighting, etc.) are only seen when running in cabinet mode (so, multi-monitor) or are they active even when playing TPA normally?
Any word on progress towards fixing this? I know it is minor (doesn't affect gameplay) but it is annoying to see all of the other cabinets in such great shape when scrolling through and then hit this one.
I bought seasons one and two in the Steam store and not in-game and it says I'm not eligible for card drops. When I clicked the link it said I'd be eligible for a card drop per $9 spent in-game. Is that really how it works? Sure would've been nice to know that ahead of time. =/
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'm tending towards just going non-pro for now, and hoping that cabinet mode doesn't require pro (I can't imagine that it will -- as many pre-S3 tables have no pro mode). I just don't think I'll use the features enough to justify the 33% more sticker price...
I'd be interested as a separate app, similar to "Pinball After Dark", but not as part of the main seasons -- I like that reserved for recreations of historical tables.
Yeah, I'm not asking for museum quality archives here, but being able to read it sure would be great. I think that the equivalent fliers on the PS3/4 are much crisper.
Andassaran, thanks -- I guess upgrading is an option and as long as I don't upgrade too many tables I still come out ahead (as long as I spend less than $10 on pro upgrades).
gypsyshred -- I hadn't realized that portrait mode fills the need to really see the table well. I also suppose that...
Are the fliers (under Extras) fuzzy for everyone on the PC? I know it isn't as important as the table itself, but I enjoy the "historical" aspects of the tables including the fliers. Hopefully (assuming all have the issue) FarSight will update with higher res fliers.
I'm torn on pro vs. normal season packs for the PC. On the one hand, I don't use it much. On the other hand, since this will be the basis for a virtual pin at some point I may want it then. Do you all think the pro features will be worth it for a cabinet? Actually, come to think of it I'm...
Pinball After Dark, new UI, challenge mode, Linux support (Steam Box ahoy!) were all interesting. I am hoping we see something a bit later today as well. =)
Oh, they are readily available so I was just looking for opinions on the book, if they matched what I was looking for before I bought them. Based on dtown8532's response they sound like they are.
That helped a lot, thanks! As each of the three compendiums runs about $40 I'll probably start...
Do any of you own the Pinball Compendium books by Michael Shalhoub? Or The Complete Pinball Book by Marco Rossignoli? I'm looking for nice coffee table type books that show off many of the beautiful pinball tables as well as give interesting information about them, and maybe historical...
