I was excited for a short while. Made it through an I tire game but next game it crashed on ball 2 again. I'll let you know about my 5s later. How could the table be any different with the most recent release if it didn't download an update for that specific table?

It shouldn't, were thinking it has something to do with Game Center.

I mentioned that on the first page of this topic.

You guys with the issue can easily test if it's an online issue but turning off Wi-Fi on your device and if it's a cellular-capable device, turning cell data off as well. Play totally offline. If the crashing issue stops by playing totally offline, it's an online issue, either with Game Center of Farsight's servers.

Will try that too. With every app, even safari closed I just played two complete games. Will keep trying and see what happens offline at well. Somehow I missed this message, no idea how.

Thank you so much for looking into it

So whats the verdict with turning off game center or/and online services? Thus far, we have not been able to reproduce this here at the office.

I want to test, but sadly I'm missing my iPad at the moment, it's in repair because of a sensitivity problem with the touch screen. Will report back ASAP as I get it back!

Ok so i've found an old thread regarding crash logs that Sean DonCarlos posted.

"After plugging in the device (into your PC or Mac), and syncing with iTunes, crash logs can be found in the following locations, depending on the platform:

Mac OS X:
~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>

Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<DEVICE_N AME>

Windows Vista or 7
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Logs\CrashReporter\MobileDevice\<DEVICE_N AME>

<USERNAME> is the user's login name for the computer. <DEVICE_NAME> is the name of the iOS device, for example, "John's iPhone"

You can send the crash logs to me in a private message or to Rob@farsightstudios.com and I'll forward them to the IOS programmer.

It may be of some benefit to first clear out the existing crash logs from the device first...there are likely hundreds in there if you have not synced the device to iTunes recently...

To clear out the crash logs from the device, simply connect your device to your syncing PC running iTunes and sync the device. This transfers the crash logs currently on the device to the folder(s) mentioned above. Once you've cleared the crash logs from the device, clear them from the PC as well by deleting them in the above-mentioned folder. If you want to back them up, feel free to do so (not really needed though).

Now play TPA again and get it to crash. You should probably get it to crash 5 or so times at least to get a good set of multiple crash logs. Afterwards, exit TPA, sync the device and again go to the above-mentioned folder and send those new crash logs (which should currently only contain TPA crashes) off to FlippyFloppy.

So far, as long as I shut off EVERY SINGLE APP but TPA it hasn't crashed on me but I've only played maybe a dozen and a half games. I'll also try the syncing w my Mac when I get home and deleting crash logs etc. thanks for the advise and thank you very much for looking into this problem. I must say, you guys at FS always answer legitimate questions and will always try to figure out what's going so long as someone reports the issues properly. It means a lot to many of us (I assume) but it certainly means the world to me!!

This was potentially a clue as to why the device is crashing but since you have a mini Retina, it likely doesn't apply. Older iPads (iPad 2, iPad mini 1st gen) have only 512 MB of system memory (memory that the apps run in) and are very prone to crashing when you have too many apps open & running. However, the iPad mini Retina (now officially known as iPad mini 2 with the new product announcements today) has 1 GB of system memory so the crashing due to lack of memory should not be that much of an issue, but it IS possible.

It almost seems like an app that you have in memory (until it's shut down) is conflicting somehow or maybe even has a memory leak. Your described symptoms seem like this is the case. You may want to experiment with running TPA along with one app at a time that you use frequently to see if this is the case.

Believe it or not it ONKY happens when Safari is running simultaneously.

I'll test later on with my iPad mini 2 while Safari is running to see if I get the crashing. The thing is that I'm a bit of a neat freak and pretty much always run one app at a time, always closing off other apps. I'll give it a go later on and see if I can get it to crash.

EDIT: note that Safari itself can be a huge memory hog just on it's own...it doesn't need any help grabbing precious RAM all for itself and not releasing it until it's shut down from multitasking.

Well, after opening up Safari with multiple tabs and doing some casual web surfing, then running TPA v4.1.0 with Safari running, I experienced zero crashes after 10 or so games. I'm on iOS 7.1.2 on my iPads so this is likely the differentiating factor. Hope your issue is resolved soon with the help of the crash logs.

Believe it or not I'm on an iPad min 2 and running the same operating system. I'm also a neat freak and always close out my app completely after running the with the exception of safari on occasion (and possibly email) but I've triad about a dozen games each way and as soon as I leave safari open it crashes but without doing a hard or soft reset and closing safari and then playing 33 games none of those games will crash. Very strange!! There are more people of FS Facebook page that are also crashing all the time but I don't know if they have tried closing safari and then playing. I posted it and there hasn't been any new complaints since so I can only assume it worked for them or I missed a post.

Thanks so much for trying to replicate the issue and reporting. Very cool of you!!

Well, my original iPad 2 was sadly dead in the water, so I temporarily migrated to another, similar iPad 2, this one with iOS 8.0 installed. I closed all other apps and did a hard reset, logged in/out of TPA, but HRC is still crashing for me. I'll upgrade to iOS 8.02 to see if it makes any difference and get those crash reports. I also have trouble to backup remotely on this device, this also crashes the app. While playing HRC, it seems that more often than not, crashes happen when the ball is in the bumper area, don't know if others have the same experience?

In this case, here's what I would personally do (if I already mentioned this here in this forum, forgive me since I field these questions in many different forums and it's hard for me to keep track.)

1. Back up your iPad in iTunes
2. Make certain you backup all other content on your device such as music, videos, whatever. You'll need this if you will maybe need to move all your content to the device after setting it up as new.
3. Restore your iPad as a NEW DEVICE (Do NOT use a backup to restore) from the device itself...don't use iTunes to restore either since doing so will update your device to the most recent iOS that your device qualifies for (in case you want to stay on the iOS version that is currently on the device): Tap Settings/(scroll down to)Reset/Erase All Content and Settings. This will wipe your device clean.
4. Setup the iPad as a new device, do NOT restore from ANY backup
5. After getting the device setup CLEAN, with no other apps installed, install ONLY TPA and your tables.
6. Test TPA fully.

If you get NO crashes, then the reason TPA is crashing is because of a borked/screwed up setting *somewhere in your iPad's backup*
In this case you will probably want to reinstall all your content from scratch with the iPad as a new device...a long process, I know.

Settings can get screwed up on the device...when you make a backup, the screwed up setting(s) is also saved within that backup so when you use it to restore the iPad, the screwed up setting(s) gets restored to the iPad as well.

If OTOH, TPA crashes with it being the only app installed on a clean iOS install, then you can simply restore from your backup again and look elsewhere for the issue that's causing the crashes.

Thanks MadScience! I was already planning on firstly and only installing TPA on my new iPad Air 2 that I expect in week's time to arrive. That one will offcourse come with the latest iOS out of the box. I'll immediately try out HRC on it to check for crashes. I'm still debating on how to transfer my HS/HOF points from TPA to the new iPad. Doing a restore from remote backup worked fine between the two iPad 2's. But I have a problem now with doing a remote backup from the "newer" iPad 2, this crashes everytime while it still works on the "older" iPad2, difference being the iOS that is still on 6.x on the latter, and newest 8.02 on the former. I figured that if I wanted to migrate the scores/HOF points from the newer iPad to the new Air 2, I could do that also via iExplorer or iFun, after installing TPA on the Air 2.
