Not much of a poster I know, signed up for the last kickstarter then sort of forgot to post again. Is there any group of people here that are teaming up to promote the campaign? Seemed to work well for the MST3K one.

Well, Shout! Factory had a very definite plan for the Kickstarter well before launching it. They also had really interesting rewards designed to maximize pledges, as well as stretch goals. There are so, so many things FarSight could do with the Kickstarters, but they choose not to.

Obvious one: limited number of backglass artwork sheets signed by one of the Doctors. $500-$1000. Physical reward unavailable anywhere else, and numbering them ensures it becomes a limited edition collectible.

That's what I mean, I feel like this isn't really a campaign that is being worked on, just thrown up there with ambivalence as to whether it works or not.

I find it strange that they show Wiiu gameplay on the kickstarter video. This could confuse and potentially anger perspective backers who search for the game only to find it has yet to be released.

If they really worked on it, they'd have to raise the kickstarter amount.

The consensus here seems to be that Farsight is doing a horrible job with this kickstarter. I'm not convinced of that. Their prior three all succeeded, and this one seems to be doing okay (I haven't compared progress with the other ks's though), even though DrWho is a much less famous table than the other four. If this one succeeds, certainly everyone would have to agree that Farsight did well enough, right?

I don't see the evidence that Farsight is doing anything wrong -- that they need to work hard on a campaign, or offer signed backglass prints, or make special versions of the table, etc. Maybe they do, but where's the proof?

If it succeeds this way then fine, but I'm concerned it seems to be stalling. Particularly as this seems to be a 'lesser' table than the others

Yesterday's rubbish in the comments can't have helped much. Today has been very slow. This is usually the point where the campaign owner inserts an update....

Okay, folks, let me set the record straight.

Yes, I am the same Trackball from those comments on the Kickstarter page.

To help prove it's me, here's a photo of my pledge--and since regular screencaps are easily photoshopped, I took it with my phone. http://i.imgur.com/FtBw2T6.jpg
(Not much, I know, but I will raise it once my next paycheck comes in.)

I got in on that argument because I recognized "Failsight" from the Addams Family KS. And because I have a thing about turning trolls' tactics back on them, I called him out and tried to expose him once more.

I must have succeeded, because some of his comments are gone, and so is his pledge. Sadly, it seems one Curtis W. Milam has been punished as well, when he didn't deserve to...I cannot prove he's not me, so you're just going to have to take my word for it.

Still, I've been telling as many online friends as I can find about this KS to try and get it to succeed.

Yes, I've played Visual/Future Pinball, and I have since before the Pinball Hall of Fame games or The Pinball Arcade were a thing. But once TPA put in Physics 3.0...I simply couldn't go back. TPA feels as close as you can get to actual pinball without the physical machine in front of you (which, let's be frank, will always be the best way to enjoy this great hobby). That is why I want this Kickstarter to succeed--I want to play this excellent machine with realistic physics, cradle separations and other flipper tricks like that.

But reading some of the observers' reactions here...okay, I admit, that hurt.

You guys and gals are probably right. Maybe I did go too far in letting him get to me. It's just...I vehemently believe that evil triumphs when good men do nothing, and that's why I couldn't just sit back and watch it happen. Ever see The Incredibles? Remember when he's in the boss' office, and sees a guy getting mugged on the street below, and gets more and more angry that he can't go down there to help without exposing his secret identity? Something like that.

Still, you people have a point. I'm sorry. And I'll do whatever I can to spread the word, even more than I already have.

Trackball, welcome! Thanks for the clarification.

Yeah, it's a shame about what happened. The sad truth is, it's everywhere no matter where we go. Even here there could be a bad post once in a while. No one is perfect.

Just got a response from Farsight via kickstarter concerning the TAFG table as a potential reward:

Hello there!

Unfortunately we can't give the gold version of the Addams Family table as a reward for the Dr. Who table, but we do give this out as an award through our Twitch streams every now and then. So keep an eye out. :)

They say they "can't" give it out as a reward...maybe contractual reasons? Either way, I find it pretty sad cause I want that table. And it makes me wonder if Dr. Who will reach its goal, if not, that would be very sad.

Actually, I can see why it might be a problem, because theoretically they could award TAFG to someone who doesn't own TAF... which means they wouldn't be able to access TAFG since that requires ownership of TAF in the first place.

If FarSight "gives away" TAFG in exchange for money, the collective license holders of TAF table are going to want their share of the money pledged which includes money collected from TAFG tier and all those above it (whom would also receive a copy of TAFG)...that's the issue.

The best ways I can think of to promote the Kickstarter is by tipping off the various gaming websites. I'd imagine people have already done that, but if each individual person were to tip them without spamming, it may just show how popular the campaign is. Sites to consider contacting are:
http://kotaku.com
http://www.polygon.com
http://www.destructoid.com
http://www.eurogamer.net
ign.com/support/editorial?category=feedback
https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/
http://www.gamesradar.com/
https://www.playerattack.com
http://www.gameinformer.com
http://www.gamerevolution.com

In addition, there are a couple of Doctor Who fan sites to tip off about and post in the forums, if already haven't. There's also the official Doctor Who Facebook page where people can post there about it without spamming.

He man, don't beat yourself up about this, you acted on your principles and nobody can fault you for that. I had my doubts about it because I believe in the idea of not feeding the troll. Conflict and negative attention are their oxygen and he goaded the other guy enough to have him get in trouble. On the other hand it could well be that this generated enough noise to attract some new backers, who knows :)
Welcome to these forums in any case!
