Getting tired of all the buggy tables

Just lost an excellent ball 1 multiball on Twilight Zone because the camera zoomed out to the plunger view and the flippers stopped responding. Did not resume normal operation until all balls drained. iOS, iPad Air 2.

Farsight, please focus on fixing TPA before you sell $5 tables that run like total garbage on GearVR's Stern Pinball Arcade, thanks.

Which is why I have a Master List of Issues for the PC version. Many of which have not been fixed since...well, ever. And I just added several for Big Shot; all of those relate to lighting. If you haven't seen how many I've listed; good luck trying to read through it all. Even the smallest issues need attention, not pushed aside.

Come on, Farsight. We want to see a better pinball experience for EVERYONE. Also, ROM emulation?

Look at how polished Pro Pinball is. It's still in Early Access on Steam, yet it feels like a complete game!

Pro Pinball still lacks basic features (achievements, steam cloud, leaderboard friends scores, tournaments...).

Back in my day, we didn't have that. And that's not the point anyway.

The point is, Pro Pinball has almost nonexistent bugs in gameplay. No lighting issues, no sound/music issues, no physics issues, nothing like that. Sure we're missing several things, but that's why Pro Pinball is in Early Access. We know they're working on finishing the game, even if it takes what seems like forever.

Seriously, Farsight needs to step up their game if they want to go up against one of the greatest pinball games in the world. Polish should be a top priority along with the monthly table. I have 278+ reported issues right now for the PC version, and adding more as I find them. Not good.

Even knocking 10 out each month would make me happy, as long as new ones don't get introduced as much as the old. Just take a pace rather than tackle them all at once.

Pro Pinball is just one table and they are working on that for two years. I think we can't compare both games, but I agree Farsight should take a month to fix bugs.

Are you sure that this is a bug? It sounds like the Lost in the Zone mode.

Balls are kicked from the auto-plunger as long as the Clock continues to roll; once it strikes 12, everything stops IMMEDIATELY, all balls drain, and it adds up your score (only points from LITZ round count).

The bug is with the camera and the non-responding flippers. The camera will remain at the plunger while all balls are already on the field. I *think* the workaround for this issue is to turn off the event camera in the table options menu.

The other "workaround", as ****ty as it sounds, it to use plunge cam 1 and a controller; at least on mobile. From that view you can still see the table and with a controller you can control the flippers, even if stuck on the plunge screen.

Although turning Event Cam, and Multiball Cam off are good as a general principle with this app.

There shouldn't need to be a work around like that.

Another bug I noticed today playing the tourney: On Black Hole, when the ball drains on the lower playfield, the flippers, especially the right flipper, can pass/clip completely through the ball.

100% agree. It's sad this software has so many bugs. I like to compare it with Zen, and I have never encountered any game breaking bugs there. Doesn't necessarily mean they don't exist at all, but comparing those 2 products, it's hard to say TPA is the one with less issues, unfortunately.

Oops, I've never seen that one myself. Does it happen frequently?

My thoughts about the missing bug fixes is: All old tables are considered being "done" by FarSight, they simply don't have the manpower to fix even the most annoying bugs. Only if something gets broken due to a new development they will visit the old tables again.

The same applies for a lot of announced or requested features like hard mode settings, cab support (officially abandoned), emulation of some older tables etc. I am happy if it gets done some day, but I don't expect it to happen before it is released.

I think you're right with the idol overflow. In addition I can confirm the wrong score counting. In a second try I've reached more than 250 Billion now. Lost the overview at the end. This game came as 76 Billion only to the leaderboard. Looks like the CftbL problem and a big continent bonus during the 10B rollover destroy the score. At least I've beaten my best continent score so far:

bonus.png

I've made a third attempt to beat the #1 score. This table is buggy. I've played very safe and didn't double my 1.3 B continent score during the 100 B rollover and later. Finished for security at 119 B this time. No chance, came as 89 B. Maybe the only way to beat the #1 is to hold the double continent bonus under 2 B or never double the score...

The PS4 version of Pinball Arcade is also missing leaderboards, etc.

And, unlike EVERY other game ever made for the PS3 or PS4, Pinball Arcade doesn't recognize the analog sticks for menu navigation, forcing you to instead use the d-pad.

I wish it would be also possible to choose to nudge either with the analog stick or the D-Pad. Like in Zen (options to toggle stick or D-Pad for nudging)

So what do we do? Farsight is the ONLY developer making digital recreations of real-world pinball tables on platforms outside of PC, and they are one of the few devs making digital pinball at all.

They know their product is bugged and even somewhat broken in some cases. But instead of focusing on fixing the current platforms they keep pushing TPA to more platforms... And now SPA? They are giving their best running table away for free in SPA for GearVR and charging $5/each, with no trial, for the remaining tables... and they run terribly. No refunds! That is incredibly deceiving, because the free table is the only indication of performance.

The obvious solution is to not buy any more tables, but what good does that really do? It just means less support for pinball. They aren't going to fix the tables some of us already spent hundreds of dollars on. If we somehow managed to convince the small playerbase to stop buying tables Farsight would just stop making pinball games.

It's frustrating.

They're not the only ones. ~cough Zaccaria Pinball cough~

Oh, yes, Zaccaria. I always forget about them even though I own all the tables on iOS... They do a good job, given their resources. But not on consoles and obviously they only do (did) the Zaccaria tables... Which, I believe, they are officially done making, right? They are just porting to other platforms now?

Either way.

My point is that I want to support FS and pinball, and I like havig new tables, but I hate paying for more tables knowing how much work needs to be done on existing tables. Work that may never be done. We pay $5 a table, regardless of platform, and some of us buy tables on multiple platforms. I would be completely fine with FS taking a few months off from releasing tables to do some polish, but it seems like they need the constant revenue stream that monthly tables and new platforms provides them.

If they need the revenue the real time to convince people is just before the new season pass goes on sale, buy fixing up what they have already paid for. Soon as Monster Bash and ToM are fixed I will be getting the new season. If they fixed up Black Knight I would go Pro on everything to show my appreciation

On the Zaccaria makers, they could still make some more tables if the PC port goes well for them I would think (hope) they could do the Zac successors Tecnoplay and Mr Game, or maybe get one of the other very few licences left Interflip, Game Plan, Atari, Sonic/Segasa. They also have a pinball creation thing in development. The more pinball the better :)

I don't think they really give a **** tbh, as said above they pretty much have a monopoly and a captive market of pinheads so they have no incentive whatsoever to raise their game. Sad.
