Currently you can use custom balls for leaderboards and tournies - what going to happen with these balls if they give an unfair advantage?

Good video. Would be nice to see Xbox One vs PS4 dark mode. People have said they look the same but every video I have seen the PS4 looks darker and much better for it. And the PC will be based on the XBox One....

has Farsight mentioned anything about the gold edition or the special ball physics reward since the kickstarter ended?

Gold Edition is still exclusive to those who backed it, and I guess it'll remain that way until they decide otherwise. Gold Mode is going to be accessible from the Pro menu for those who have it unlocked. I don't know if it's been finished yet; the (Android) beta versions don't have the KS unlocks in place.

There is an Addams Family ball pack with all the special balls included, it will be available for sale right away as well as being a tier reward. From the beta testing notes I've seen, they're pretty good fun to use. They may also be considered part of the Pro Season Pass as well, like all other custom balls.

Since FarSight spilled the beans on Facebook, I'll do the same here.

Phantom of the Opera (for platforms that don't have it yet), The Party Zone, Earthshaker, Starship Troopers and The Addams Family should be available on PS3 (NA/EU), PS4 (NA/EU), PS Vita (NA/EU) and Xbox One mid to late March if all goes as planned.

didnt know this good tibit

Yeah I don't like using the custom balls except on tables where the normal ball is really hard to see - t2 I use the yellow smiley face and gorgar a green ball. I had these set up in normal game play and they show up during tournaments. Looks like the new Adams ball will disable tournaments and leader boards - good - but now curious if it will disable all custom balls.

I always use the zebra ball. Easy to see on all tables, white the exception of white water.

I'm curious to see how the 'thing' ball will work on iOS. Might just hold off on getting them for a while

Yo. THE HYPE IS REAL.

Thanks to Crawley for the notes:

TAF Related Notes:

- Tomorrows release will be for Steam/Android and iOS *should* be out too but with Apple there's possibility of delay
- Releasing tables to Kickstarter backers is a manual process on Android/iOS (and Steam?) so may take a bit before you get the table after it's actually released
- After release on XB1 it will take a few days for backers to get their codes
- After release on PS4 it will take a few weeks (3?) for backers to get their codes
- Farsight mentioned this is out of their hands but are trying to work with PSN to get them released quicker
- Gold mode will be out with the table release (Note: This is exclusive to those Kickstarter backers that pledged in the tiers offered)
- To get it you just go in to the Pro menu and change the "Gold Mode" setting to "On"
- Table automatically changes to the Gold highlights
- The Rom changes to the Gold rom
- There's a new (separate) leaderboard for just the Gold table
- Christopher Lloyd apparently wanted as much as the Kickstarter goal for his likeness
- A TAF ball pack will also be released with the table (although a few day delay on iOS). Here's information on the balls they showed:
- Dirty golf ball - smaller ball with the following physics changes: Lighter and floater but also slower
- Lightning ball - Dark blue ball with lightning pattern and the following changes: Animated lightning bolts light up around the ball. The ball will ignore "The Power" on the TAF table. Does not ignore "The Power" on Twilight Zone however
- Hurricane Irene ball - Copper ball with some lettering and has the following changes: Animated sheets of paper fly out of ball, ball is faster and accelerates quickly due to increased gravity
- Thing Ball - Silver ball with Thing's hand on top and has the following changes: Things fingers animate as ball moves around table, and this ball has ball control (e.g. you can move the ball around the table)
- Uncle Fester ball - Uncle festers head with an animated light bulb in its mouth. It looks creepy and kooky.
- "What" ball - A ball with hair all around it. Looks similar to cousin it. It was crashing the table (they were in the process of working on it) so no idea what it does or if it has any physics changes
- Can purchase the ball back separately if you didn't get it in the Kickstarter. Apparently will cost as much as a table.
- The balls you can control are usable on all tables
- To control the ball on the PC with a controller you use the right thumb stick to move the ball around. The LB button will apply a break to the ball. The RB button will turn the ball gravity off)
- Leaderboard scores are disable with the ball control and balls with physics changes
- The balls with physic changes are useable on all tables
- Fester multiball was pretty damn funny

General TPA news:

- Still preparing DX11
- Still working with Microsoft on 360 table releases
- Ghostbusters table coming to PC

I'm sure part of it is because for some reason the early SS / EM crowd, while often vocal, is smaller than the 90s revival crowd. For this reason, most of the >10K produced mid 80s-90s pins have gotten requested a lot. Most of the >10K produced mid 70s-early 80s pins, not so much.

Hence you see far more requests for, say, the most visible Sterns like TSPP and LOTR (Stern doesn't release numbers but it seems like the guesstimates say it's probably <6000 pins) versus, say, Flash (19.5K pins) or Mata Hari (16.2K pins). Nothing wrong with Flash, Mata Hari, EB, etc. -- they *did* do something right and that's why they sold well. But they are from a different time.

(Actually, it's kind of funny, but the runaway early SS requested pins (Paragon and Xenon) weren't really the biggest in terms of # of units produced.)

TAF is kind of iconic as a 90s pin though.

Yeah, this is exactly right. You can't really compare sales directly between 1977 and 1992. In 1977, video games had barely even gotten off the ground. Hell, even Space Invaders hadn't come out yet. Pinball was pretty much the main attraction. By 1992, video games (both home and arcade) were absolutely huge and cutting deeply into pinball's audience. A single machine selling north of 20,000 units was pretty much unheard of in that environment, whereas even pretty ordinary machines were selling 15,000 in the late '70s. It's all about context.

When will backers get our codes for Steam and iOS?

On Steam, iOS, and Android, there will not be "codes". To unlock your KS content, you must be logged in via your Farsight account. Going by what was said during last night's Twitch stream, it is a manual process to add the unlocks for each FS account.

That said I don't know how they will handle things for backers who requested multiple copies on Steam, iOS, or Android - maybe they will be sending out codes for those, but that question didn't get asked, as far as I know.
