Eight ball Deluxe was the best selling pinball game of all time, before addams family. it MUST be done.
According to ipdb: 8,250 units (confirmed)

That's not absolutely top.
Mata Hari 16,260 units (confirmed)
Firepower Williams: 17,410 units

That doesn't say that much about the quality.

Add the 2388 "Limited Edition" EBD pins to that total...
There was also a third run of the machine in 1984... no production numbers are listed in the Internet Pinball Database for some reason (part of the 8250? Who knows...).

Eight Ball was the true one that did *really* well though... personally, I think EBD would go over better though.

Will there be any Kickstarters, any ideas what they might be?

Space Invaders - To get an autographed picture of the Backglass sitting in Bobby King's office for all the PAF forum members from 2012 :p

There is rarely any advanced notice of the Kickstarters, or what license they are going after. I mean some people in the know might know but there's 3 little things keeping them from telling anyone else until it goes live - NDA!!

They Have been quite vocal about the licenses that will almost 100% not be happening. It sounds liker they have at least been working on lord of the rings, Simpsons pinball party and they have been on record for Addams family of course. They never mention any of the more minor licenses. They did say South Park would be really expensive the other day though.

i believe the 8000+ figure does NOT include the third version, and that's what pushed it over the top. pretty much everyone says that TAF dethroned eight ball deluxe.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be underwhelmed with EBD based on how people talk about it here.

EBD deluxe is just a standout for its time. The Bally's from that era had superior voice and sound effects compared to the other companies. EBD is a prime example of this. Combined with a well designed playfield and good yet easy to understand rules, they had a winner. I think that if Eight Ball hadn't just come out a couple years before and was probably still earning, Bally would have sold even more EBD's. However, if you're going to compare it to the depth of most newer titles and if you don't see the charm in early synthesized voicework, then you may be dissapointed. Bottom line, if you like Centaur, then you'll probably dig EBD as well.
