I predict that The Pinball Arcade will hit Origin first, THEN Steam will see sales for it are very popular and then decide they want to carry the game as well. I just dont see it happening this Winter.

We should do a campaign on major gaming forums and rally up some more votes. Neogaf, Reddit, 4chan/v/, who else? Think we could get some folks at cheapassgamer? I did one a few weeks back on /v/ with some pinball fans coming in but it wasn't huge, I could try again. Who wants to help?

Started a post on /v/, come join me: http://boards.4chan.org/v/res/167710108

If you're not used to 4chan, the threads don't last long so if you come by hours later it will probably be gone by then. But if you're around right now, come talk about TPA and post pinball images!

Thread is still alive, at least 2 people came in and said they voted for us. This is hard work!

Last update: Thread finally 404'ed, but I got a couple of cool people to vote for TPA. If we can do this more, maybe we can get enough awareness to get TPA in the running!

By the way, I hope they add a quit/close button somewhere if we want to close the app, so that we don't become stuck inside the Arcade.

I wonder if this new publisher for the 360 can help us skip Greenlight overall. Farsight, you can take THAT option into consideration :)

I suggested that on the FB page. I don't know whether they monitor here or FB more closely (FB seems to be full of idiots compared to here) but I'm hoping for the same thing. Fingers crossed, because it doesn't look like their position on Greenlight has been improving at all, especially considering there have been two batches already approved. Should be higher than 80-whatever.

Well, remember that there are new entrants into Greenlight all the time - it only costs $100. And there's a lot of other games out there.

So yes, the publisher would allow TPA to end up on steam quicker - especially if that publisher already has games on steam - getting TPA in that way is much easier.

Actually, we may have a chance after all; it actually doesn't matter what rank we're in or how many votes we have. I read a comment from the discussions: (Do you have to be in the top 100....?)

"Based on previous Greenlight data we can see that Valve doesn't base what games get Greenlit solely based on the number of votes, as games relatively low on the top 100 lists have been greenlit and games very high on the list have been past up at certain times. Being high on the top 100 list means your game is almost gaurenteed to get Greenlit, but I think it's safe to assume Valve are also picking out a few niche ones that are lower on the list to expand the market." - AIMonster

So yeah, there you have it. Personally, I don't care either way, going for Greenlight or having a publisher help out are both suitable choices.

Remember: January 15 is the deadline for the next Greenlit games.

I hope when they make the decision that they know that TPA wound up on some yearly top game lists.

The only reason I created a steam account (and bought Geometry Wars for $3.99-only game currently on steam worth it IMO) was to cast my vote for Pinball Arcade.

I went the opposite way , I was already a STEAM user , voted for The Pinball Arcade , realised that GREENLIGHT IS A FARCE , and boycotted the app from my computer , ignoring about $100 . of games I bought over the years , and Im, determined to keep that up until the game gets a PC release.

Unfortunately the only one losing out here is you, they have your money, they don't care.

Steam is like any business , they depend on customers , and Im not a customer until I install that app .I still have my games anytime I want them , however they are getting no new purchases from me , and I averaged $80 every year. In this economy you should not underestimate customer satisfaction , my boycott of Call of Duty games has cost Activision about $300.

I installed Steam and purchased a game some months ago I didn't want just so I could vote. Just before Christmas I was gonna buy a couple of games on Steam I was interested in, and I then thought **** them I won't give them a carrot. It meant making a trip to a shopping center to buy some alternative gifts, but hey it was worth it just to not give Valve 50 euros. I can't see PA ever getting approved by the steam crowd, which means in my lifetime I won't spend a cent on their setup. Vindictive? Yes definitely.

I refuse to do anything with steam. If they do get Farsight, then I will join steam and purchase Farsights games from them. Until then, steam doesn't exist to me.

6yr old vista laptop died today - something to do with the motherboard.
Just bought a lowish end Acer to replace it, but I made sure it has the quoted specs for TPA.:)

We have ONE WEEK to get as many votes as we can. I have read a comment concerning if we have to be in the Top 100 to be Greenlit; Valve has chosen other games that were lower in the Top 100 in order to expand the market. So the higher up we are, the better chance we have at getting Greenlit. Then again, there's that off-chance.
