Fantastic! Is that the one from Pinballz?

Oh, and hey... respect to Python Anghelo, chose an appropriate week to pick it up :)

Thanks guys! It was very weird timing. We got it the day before he passed. It wasn't the one from Pinballz. It was significantly less than what they'd charge. We found a really nice guy who needed to get rid of it quickly.

Well, it looks like we can add another one to the list! Somehow I'll need to find room in my tiny little single-bedroom unit for a HUO RBION to accompany my High Speed. Machine is in basically perfect condition and even looks to have original rubbers on it so it's basically untouched. PF needs a good clean, but other than that the thing is beautiful. Hoping that it improves my tournament play with newer Stern machines as well, as WPC games are my preference but have a feel that's definitely far too different to Sterns to get used to.

Now I need to play furniture Tetris to make some room. Wish me luck!

Nice one Shaneus, great choice. I currently have a 7th machine in my conservatory, an F-14 belonging to a friend which I'm fixing up for him. Also in the middle of shopping out his Getaway at his house, he's trying to get his machines ready for an event he's hosting in July.

Always wanted to try Bugs, despite what people say. The inverted playfield that links meaningfully to the main playfield is a nice touch, I've always though. Pins based on classic cartoons are timeless, too. It always bugs me (pun not intended) when a great pin is overshadowed by a forgotten movie - The Shadow anyone? (pun not intended again).

Cheers, I'm pretty happy about it! Short of dropping ~$6k for a 2010+ Stern Pro, it's my best option for getting a Stern. And compared to all the other Sterns that aren't that expensive, it's definitely the one I'm most interested in. Don't know enough about Monopoly and RCT is a little too busy for my likes, but RBION I actually get and understand despite it being one of the deepest games out there (apparently, I'm still yet to discover that for myself).

Should hold it's value too, which I'm pretty happy about :)

How many are in your collection? If my maths is correct... 6?

Congratulations, Shaneus! RBION is an amazing machine. I've always thought of it as the Rubik's Cube of pinball machines. Once you wrap your brain around how it works, it takes on new dimensions. It's a great choice for a home machine as it's deep enough to keep you entertained for a lifetime. Sounds like you got a great one too.

Congrats! Cool pin to own. You don't see a lot of them, so that is a very good find. I know a bowling alley that has one. A lot of fun to play, and pretty darn tough too. Should keep you entertained for a good long time.
Give us an update after you've had some playing time on her.

Sorry, all pins are hers to me. Like a classic car.
Oh, I'm in complete agreement. Some are harsh mistresses, others are hard and fast and fun, and quick to dump you in the gutter if you don't give them a nudge every so often (hello, High Speed). The very worst have seen better days and have sloppy... flippers. Ahem.

Playing absolutely perfectly. Few small quibbles, like rare phantom opto hits on the shrunken head (which I knew about, and have replacement optos thrown in for :) ), a weird hum from the left flipper (which is apparently a known thing with Sterns and not an big problem... still like to fix it though) and it hasn't been properly levelled yet, but it seems pretty close to spot-on. Never thought I'd say it, but I think it may be a little steep for a shooter's game (I used a thing of wood to lift the back of High Speed up and it's sitting on that, but I might ditch it on RBION) as the upper flipper doesn't feel like it's reaching shots it should, but everything else feels fine strength-wise, so there's not a lot that needs to be tweaked in that regard (maybe a superband on the upper flipper).

But all the shots feel nice and it feels like a good example of a Stern machine (pre-crappy licensed games like Sopranos/24/CSI/RS and cheap-feeling titles like Batman and everything that had a "pro" version). Honestly don't think I could be happier with a Stern title :)

I cleaned my head optos with alcohol and a qtip. And loosen and tighten the screws that holds the transmitter/receiver so they are aligned again. The hole they have to shoot through the metal lane is quite tight and vibrations can cause the opto to report.

Yeah, I hear Stern optos (I'm not familiar with them on other machines) are notorious for being stupidly sensitive. I could go ahead and replace the opto with the new one I have, but like you said I have a feeling it just needs a small realignment. Hopefully that's not too tricky to do... I would assume that it's something once you get used to it, it's second nature.

Sadly it was late by the time I got it home *and* I have a competition tonight so I won't get home until late to play it again. It's such a great feeling table though, I kind of like it setup steep! Shots all feel really solid and even doing a left orbit shot through the pops isn't anywhere near as hard as the same shot on TZ (or any other Lawlor or similar table).

Great machine and congrats, Shaneus. This is one of the most under-rated Sterns (but every tpa player knows that, of course)

About those humming flippers, aren't they great? ;) I've had those from the second I opened up nib Metallica and Star trek (courtesy of Stern quality control along with far from tight feeling lockdown bars and LED lights popping out of their sockets to often to count)
