Well, it's been established on the mobile platforms (before the last update) that the bumpers were not any where close to the way a real Firepower machine is supposed to be (which is why Farsight updated FP and AFM...they're much better now).

Here's a real Firepower to compare:

I love Firepower, but it's just not the same with weak bumpers. Combine that with the other bugs, and I'm going to have to pass. Looking forward to the PC release though, since it will be a breeze for Farsight to patch.

Funny, I was going to link you to a few YouTube videos including that one to say that the power looks pretty similar to what's there in TPA. I think the thing you're objecting to is not so much power but that the pops don't always activate if the ball just nudges them or strikes them glancingly, which does cause there to be less action in the pop bumpers. That could certainly be better, but I find it odd that it's a deal-breaker for you on this table, where the pops aren't tied into a critical mode completion goal or anything like that, so having more or less pop hits doesn't really have a huge effect on gameplay--the ball is going to drop down the left, right, or center just about the same eventually.

Well, to each his own. Since you're getting the PC version anyway I can't blame you for not bothering with PS3 DLC at this point.

As for myself, I'm not getting TPA on PC, and the only Firepower I've given up on--eventually--was one where the entire playfield was tilted slightly to one side. Come to think of it, I suppose if I'd been older and gutsier I'd just have tried stuffing some napkins or something under a couple of the legs. : P

Playing the iOS version before and after, it makes a huge difference. The ball coming down to the lower playfield is much less predictable and is often traveling at a significantly faster rate. This results in more interesting, yet lower scoring games, for sure.

But it's not just the bumpers. It's the other bugs too.

Yeah, I gotcha. Eh so have you guys given up on the PS3 version so much that we don't get stickied version threads anymore?

Thanks Jeff!

Oh uh and if I recall the patch was something like 282 MB.

I really hope theres no physic changes in the middle of the tournament.

Haven't felt any general physics changes. I did manage an honest to goodness drop catch in Firepower when experimenting with the L2/R2 controls, but I think those have been possible for a while now (I just never bothered to try).

was cactus canyon in this patch?

Table-wise it's just Dr. Dude and Firepower that are available for now. I suppose it's likely this patch has also included support for the next table pack to be released too, like 2.09 did.

I noticed that when I started TPA while signed in to PSN today that I was prompted to update to 2.10, so I did.

But everything on the menu looked the same. "New Tables" was ghosted out as usual and there was absolutely no indication that new tables were available. I had to go to the Store to buy the table pack.

If one didn't read these forums or follow FS on FB and/or Twitter (neither of which I do), one would have no idea that new content was available. Can you say "lost sales"?

I think there's some problem initializing the new/my tables buttons correction just after updating. For me, I started the game, it patched to 2.10, then at the main menu, "New Tables" was lit up (even though I'd already bought and installed all packs to this point--through 11 I mean), and "My Tables" was ghosted out. So I clicked "New Tables," and all the game's tables were in there. I clicked one of the DLC ones and it brought up the store, where the pack showed as purchased; I backed out back to the game, and when it came back up, the main menu was correct: "New Tables" was ghosted out, and "My Tables" was available--and it's been that way every time I've started it since. Whew. Had me scared for a minute there.

I wish I passed on this table pack - despite the PS3 version's superior nudge ability (vs. iOS), Firepower just isn't as much fun with these wooden bumpers.

And given (from reading these forums; I've only had PS3 TPA for a couple of months) that Farsight doesn't (or can't (?)) fix table bugs in a timely manner, I fear that quality will only continue to suffer. :(

They really need to wait to submit the PS3 version until after the first wave of bug fixing on the mobile versions so that those bug fixes can already be in place for the initial PS3 releases. It wouldn't be a big deal if the patching situation was more favorable, but with the platform hurdles that make bug fixes difficult, I'd much rather wait another week or two for less buggy tables since who knows if some of these bugs will ever be fixed on PS3.

So far they pretty much haven't fixed any table bugs on PS3 that aren't a really really blatant exploit or showstopper, have they?

Jeff, I think they do follow the plan you sketch out--using what comes out of the first or second wave of mobile testing to fix any absolutely fatal bugs. But that's where they stop as far as the PS3 version is concerned, because any fixes they make change the table, and could cause worse bugs than they fix, so another round of testing (ie, mobile update) would be needed. That could go on and on and disrupt their monthly release schedule, so it seems like what they do is just use the initial mobile releases (either the last beta or early gold maybe, I dunno I don't follow the mobile side that closely) to catch any absolutely fatal bugs (leaving the somewhat fatal or just mutilating ones), and once those are ironed out on mobile, they figure it's good enough to go on PS3, and that's what we're left with until, apparently, the end of time, while they meanwhile at their leisure fix some of the less critical bugs on the platforms that allow DLC patching.

Hope it's better than Vita. Dr. Dude plays at like 70% speed and I found a bug in Firepower on my very first game.

Exactly. Dr. Dude is so much better on PS3 than IOS. Firepower too. I will play these until they are out for PC. They are never going to be exactly like a real table. PS3 is the best out there for now. $2.50? Need a loan?

Firepower is buggy.
2 out of 5 games had glitches cameras!

I just started a new game and I'm stuck in "Plunger cam" while playing the ball. This obviously makes it a lot more challenging!

I also agree with all of the bumper comments. They seem broken or unpowered.

I pretty much gave up hope on any table fixes happening on the PS3. I mean, if the table art still remains backwards on Theatre of Magic (launch table) what hope do we really have for tables like Black Knight being fixed? NONE? :(

TZ still has that issue with a game starting in 2-player mode. Funhouse (edit: and No Good Go'fers) still sometimes doesn't start properly (that weird zoom/scroll mode). These bugs have been reported multiple times.

Interesting. Did you by chance have balls locked when you ended the previous games?

And do you have the "Multiball camera" option set to "Off"? If so, try turning it on--that tends to fix other stuck-camera problems.

"Weak" bumpers or not, Firepower looks and plays great. Compared to the PHOF version it's much harder now but why not, it's good to have some easy and some hard tables in the bunch. Dr Dude needs more playtime.

* The lag in 1080 is as before, nothing has changed.
* I have played some other tables but haven't noticed any changes.

Uh guys both BK and FP are emulated now and BK finally has GI so that is a positive step for me. So far I have not witnessed any bugs yet. I have played these tables before many times on VP. I only play on camera angle 1, so perhaps the cam bugs have something to do with changin table angles? And honestly do we really need 3D? I can see that as fouling up a lot of tables. There kisn't a sufficient amount of people that have 3D Tvs to worry about such frivolity. So thank you FS for the massive improvements to Black Knight (and emulation) and keep up the good work. There will always be bugs in ganes that is a proven fact. I am just happy to be able to play a nice rendition of Dr.Dude for once. :)
