In addition I feel they should consider making Season 3 Cross-Buy between PS3 & PS4.

here we go again.

I feel they should make all games cross buy. So that the copy of Tetris I bought on NES should entitle me to it on every platform in perpetuity and in any potential variation or cloned form.

</reductio ad absurdum>

They are (losing money) because no one will buy individual tables (all of them)

I know this statement isn't true because I will buy all the individual tables. It's the only way that I've purchased tables except for season one for the PS4. I own all the tables for the PS3 and PS4 and I haven't purchased any season passes.

Totally. This was the first season where a season pass was offered before it started so I did jump on it, but previously I bought every pack released and I'm not the kind of person to spite myself to make a point...

Wait what?!?
See how little sense that makes when you cut off the relevance from the original quote?

Definitely not absurd.. yes I speak Latin.

Speaking for myself and about 6 of my friends, Farsight WILL lose money because we all planned on buying Season 3. The lack of a Season Pass on the PS3/PS4, along with the switch to 1 table per pack is making us all more selective on our table purchases.

I had to buy all the season 1 and 2 table packs individually on my Ouya, because I got a pre-launch Ouya and had downloaded most of the packs available prior to the "day one" update. Had I waited, Season 1 pass and Season 2 pass would have been instant buys, so I was grateful for the opportunity to buy Season 3 pass while it was available. Still, pretty dumb move on Farsight's part to cancel it across all platforms because a single storefront had a policy against it. Screw Apple. It shouldn't affect Android, PC, Steam, Ouya, PSN, or Xbox Live. By that logic, Farsight should have pulled TPA from all platforms because it got pulled from XBLA. :p

And yet its even dumberer than that because they haven't pulled the season passes from all platforms, just select platforms.

So what you're saying is that if someone buys FIFA14 for PS3 they should be entitled to it for PS4?

I'm still mad about nba jam not working for both SNES and Genesis. Not to mention donkey kong for my Atari 2600 and my nes years later.

Yes.
If FIFA was add-on DLC using most of the resources from the original version then that would make perfect sense to have it available on both platforms for one price.

A better example would be this....
So what you're saying is that if someone buys Zen Pinball DLC for PS3 they should be entitled to it for PS4?

I don't want to derail this thread. It was just a suggestion now that Farsight has moved onto Season 3 on the PS4 and is no longer having to overhaul tables from the 360 to the PS4 with added work. They are now starting with the more detailed tables with enhanced lighting, etc. and porting down.

I only bring this up because of the BS that Microsoft is causing with their rules and It's causing Farsight to withhold PS4 DLC.
I would be more inclined to buy the tables for the PS3 now knowing it's not a wasted purchase since I am not going to continue to keep my PS3 and PS4 both running just to play all of the TPA tables.

I'm not going to keep defending this over and over again.
All I'm saying is I'd prefer Season pre-order + Cross-Buy [PS3/4] from here on out.

****, just because you bought it on PS3 you deserve it on PS4? Hell, I think Farsight should be shipping us all REAL pinball tables as an included bonus for the buy in price.

And why hasn't Sega shipped me my Outrun 2 arcade machine after I bought the game for the classic Xbox???

Did I ever say I deserved anything?
I said they should consider it.

You guys really need to listen and read properly. Your examples are poor at best.

You can make a mockery of this all you want, but Farsight is losing money and making bad choices. This board is not representative of the average buyers on PSN. Many people are buying PS4 consoles and will not double, triple, quadruple dip like you maniacs.

And really... comparing modern DLC to 30 year old cartridges just proves you are not up on how things work now.

Again I'm not saying any of the old DLC should be free to anyone. I'm talking specifically on Season 3.

If you don't own a PS4 you shouldn't even bother commenting on this matter.

And if you bought FIFA14 (on anything) or Donkey Kong on the Atari 2600 I'm so sorry to hear that.

The delivery medium doesn't change anything. You buy a game on a platform you get it on that platform.

If you buy it on an older platform it's not a wasted purchase you play it on the platform you purchased it on.

That and you act like you have access to their financial reports or something when you claim as fact that they are losing money. The examples are pretty on par whether you like them or not. The PS4 is a different architecture from the PS3 and it's a different set of code. The PS3 and vita cross buy was a nice thing to do but if they give two copies for the price of one then they need to sell twice as many copies to make the same amount of money. If they don't and lose less than half of their sales then they are coming out ahead.

Imagine the tables we would have if Farsight did everything zen did.

It really just comes down to which will make more money in the short and medium term. FarSight isn't big enough to have the luxury of thinking long term. Cash flow is paramount to a business their size. Does selling the DLC separately on the PS4 and PS3 make more money or does selling it as a cross buy on all three playstation platforms make more money? It seems unlikely that a lot of people will buy it on both the PS4 and PS3 but that is what I'm doing. The real question is would they have more revenue selling individually to the PS3 and PS4 or would they have more revenue if they did the triple cross buy. It would seem that they have to sell a significant more of the cross buy tables in order to make it a good financial decision. I don't have enough knowledge to know which would create the most revenue.

Well I didn't buy it recently. It was really cutting edge at the time! ;-) Actually my parents bought it for me.

i remember getting a donkey kong cartridge that didn't work for my Atari 2600. I think it was a widespread problem.

One could argue that PSN is in itself a platform.

If you buy it on an older platform it's not a wasted purchase you play it on the platform you purchased it on.
Which would be perfectly fine if those tables were not bring held back by Microsoft's new rules on indie releases.

That and you act like you have access to their financial reports or something when you claim as fact that they are losing money.
As I said, I was speaking for myself and some friends. They are losing our money.

I disagree.
Comparing anything past recent years is asinine as the entire gaming commerce infrastructure has changed greatly.
We're also not talking about entire games, but rather DLC which is easily portable.

Many people who currently own PS3 systems, if they don't already own a PS4, plan on buying one in the near future.
This would make sense for them to purchase Season 3 tables knowing they will be available on the PS4...eventually.

The PS3 and vita cross buy was a nice thing to do but if they give two copies for the price of one then they need to sell twice as many copies to make the same amount of money. If they don't and lose less than half of their sales then they are coming out ahead.
Again, I disagree. Most people won't buy the same tables for both the PS3 & PS4. We do, but not everyone is as willing.

I think making the PS3/PS4 Cross-Buy makes more sense than having it constrained to the PS3/Vita. Those platforms are even more different IMO.

Imagine the tables we would have if Farsight did everything zen did.
Argh... why do you make me hurt the company I love??
Ok..
Imagining in 3....2.....1.....
~We would receive Cross-Buy PS3/PS4/Vita tables all for a single low price.
~They would cost $2.49 each.
~They would have online modes with tons of options including voice and video chat.
~They would have 10 camera views including a free roam camera to see every little table detail.
~They would have trophies for ALL tables
~They would offer playable demos for every table.
~They would have the ability to play your own background music while playing pinball.
~They would have the ability to access interactive table instructions WHILE playing pinball.
~They would have a nicer looking menu.
~They would have stereoscopic 3D on the PS4 tables.
~They would all have Pro Mode features included for no additional cost.
~etc..
I really like Zen Pinball, the newer tables in particular. Zen Studios is a very capable company.
