I own a NBA Fastbreak (huge bball fan if my avatar didn't give it away already). Let's say licensing will not be the problem (it will be though! ), then I would say this about the table
- not a deep ruleset
- it's not a really difficult pin in terms of gameplay, this doesn't make it a fantastic match for TPA because Tarek will break the ROM also repeatable EB's if I'm correct.
- the passing holes around the basket area ("in the paint") are nicely done but if you get the hang of it, not really difficult
- the modes that get started after a fixed number off bumper hits can actually a bit of a distractor to the gameplay, you are a bit forced to play them
- the theme is implemented very well, nice call-outs that match basketball plays and pin gameplay
- it has good flow, if you get it going you feel very good about yourself
- getting multiple rings from the -kind off- wizard mode ("championship round") is a challenge on a real machine (but may be too easy in TPA)
- kids like this machine because it has a simple scoring system in which your score is counted in baskets, so a 150 score is actually a nice score. It has also has a regular scoring system which counts in millions. Some grown-ups actually dislike the single digits scoring system per shot. It does feel more like basketball, so a plus for me
I would say an above average pin but it is subject to taste and maybe too easy for TPA. I would love to see it though. And I would be very interested if they would implement the actual head-to-head system that is present in the real machines. You can hook up two NBA Fastbreaks if they have the right option installed and then you can play against each other.
