I didn't like Whirlwind much in the early 90's, but I seem to go to it in TPA when I'm looking for a simple but fast "controlled" game - if you don't keep the ball under control at all times, you're dead. Whirlwind doesn't punish missed shots as much as STTNG, but it's much more unforgiving to...
Well, not a lot of strategy here, but here's what I keep in mind:
- The spot targets are useless until you're down to one ball; they don't light the roll-under gates (or score anything?) if you're running two or three balls.
- With three balls in play I send two as high as I can and peg the...
Now THAT is cool.
I've often noticed the yellow "Auto-Saved" flashes but never the "Restore Auto-Saved Content" @ lower left.
It works! :)
But you know what? The Restore button overwrites anything you've got in the window - be forewarned!
I also dislike "mobile" website versions and always view their Desktop versions (sometimes seen as "View Full Site" down at the bottom of the mobile version's screen). But I do know that changing to the desktop view doesn't affect the timeout.
One of you Droidy people tell Squid what notes app...
I don't know the answer to your question, although I used to get "timed out" when writing lengthy posts until I started composing them in Notebooks (great iOS text editor, but whatever stock "notes" app you've got on your phone will work as well), then cutting & pasting them into the forum...
Confirmed - iPad4, iOS 6.1.3
I was playing my second game of Flight 2000 when The "Goal 5 Achieved" text appeared. My score at the time was ~250K, but I saw ~2805000 (looks a lot like local high score #1) flash briefly on the score display before the "Goal 5 Achieved" text disappeared.
My...
I'm one of the hopelessly (and happily) addicted. When a new TPA pack is released I just buy it. I don't care if I liked the machine IRL or if there may be bugs - I just buy it. I don't play the free demo version, I just buy it.
What about you?

That (fairly difficult) shot seems to be about the same difficulty as the previous update to me. I'm about 15% successful from a right flipper trap, 5% successful from a rolling inlane feed (to the right flipper, of course), and maybe 2% successful from an "in-air" flip from the right flipper...
Photo 5's caption:
"A worker opens up a box of ball bearings used for a pinball machine at Stern Pinball in Melrose Park, just outside Chicago, Illinois."
Uh, ball bearings??
Nice photography though. :)
From this thread:
+1, very interesting.
Just think - if Stern recreates a TPA original and it doesn't play quite right, will Stern have to change the IRL machine?
