I actually was able to find an old CRT TV that was at least sort of working (picture pulsates and and it eventually cuts out, been meaning to recycle it for years), but it was good enough to test this for a few minutes at least. As you said, the flipper action is flawless on a CRT, perfectly...
Yeah, I know but I'm still hopeful that they find a way to get us to that quality of flipper action in TPA also, even if only at 720p.
I don't think I have any working CRT TVs left but I think I do have an old CRT PC Monitor. I just don't think I'd have any way to hook the PS3 up to it...
Yeah, its just the 720p I'm wondering about now. Its noticeably better than 1080p on my setup, but its still not perfectly responsive. I've done a side by side test with 2 PS3s on different HDTVs in the same room, and switching back and forth between 2 PS3s at different resolutions on...
The plan is still going to be for each pack to contain one HoF remake and one completely new table right? I'm really looking forward to the upgraded versions of Pinbot, Whirlwind, and hopefully Sorcerer.
I've never played ATM before, but based on that video and the comments about it being similar to MM (my favorite table to date), I'm really looking forward to giving it a try.
I'm glad to hear that they're still working on optimizing their code for the PS3 (hopefully they can mitigate some of the external factors causing lag for people) but it sounds like they are saying there will always be at least a 1 frame lag in 1080p. It would be nice to get confirmation as to...
Ooh, I knew it was coming from someone but it was still hilarious when it showed up.
I also had to laugh at Zen being referred to as the new Chinese place down the street..
If nothing else at least the OP was well written and entertaining, albeit somewhat pointless..
Wow, that does look fantastic. Are they doing something differently now with the lighting or texture rendering or something? I agree that it looks somehow different (maybe better) than previous tables.
Zen's games have an option to change the point where the triggers register as being pressed. The default is 20% and it allows a maximum of 50% I believe (for the two stage flippers it has an additional setting for how much further the trigger needs to be pressed to register the second stage)...
My initial reaction to the new store layout is also that it is terrible. It seems very cumbersome to navigate, hopefully Sony can make major improvements quickly..
Actually, to be fair Zen 2 was delayed multiple times. I think the original intended release date was supposed to be in June or July. Delays happen all the time, but if the product delivered is worth the wait then people will forget the delays. Hopefully FS finds a way to make us forget too..
This is exactly what Farsight should be doing at this point, gathering information. There are a lot of theories right now and countless variables to consider. If they have reviewed their PS3 TPA code and nothing is jumping out at them, then they need to start gathering data to look for trends...
I don't think it is. It didn't give me the wizard goal when I activated it by code but it did when I did it legit. I found that it was easy to make repeated shots into that hole by keeping both flippers held up when it spits the ball out. Like 99% of the time the ball will bounce off the left...
I have a Samsung TV as well, its a 1080p 120hz 40" model. Yesterday, at the suggestion of a friend, I tried setting my PS3 to only output at 720p before playing TPA. I was skeptical but it actually made a difference too. Now playing in 720p with game mode on the flipper lag is basically gone...
Well, I still think the flippers are a little crisper and snappier on the PHoF version but basically everything else is superior in the Pinball Arcade version. I fully expect FS to keep improving on TPA over time as well (the ambient lighting slider sounds great), and with the potential to keep...
Enabling game mode on my TV definitely helped mitigate the issue for me. The game is certainly playable and it only becomes apparent that its less than crisp when you compare it to something like Pinball Hall of Fame or the Zen games.
