This ridiculously popular table will sell well. If they plan to stay at the same price point then this was a wise choice for a guinea pig table. The Williams poll was pretty clear.
I find it has neither a deep ruleset nor is it a classic. It's quite fun, but gets old pretty quick. I honestly...
I would assume that this is yet another example of just copying the description from the iTunes Store to the Mac App Store (even though the apps are not identical.) In the past, the Mac description has included changes/new features such as changes to touch controls.
Technically, the text...
I hear you, but anything that works for arrow keys on a PC also works for the D-pad on a gamepad/controller. Personally, I sometimes use a keyboard and sometimes use a controller. My dream TPA gives options for different interfaces.
Tiles don't work for me. Give me a scrolling list. It can be pretty, functional or (imagine) both. If it's for a computer then let me use the keyboard to navigate. Hint: My keyboard has arrow keys.
A fave list and a random button are both plusses. Let me sort the way I want to sort, and you're...
Some of my favorite tables are from Williams, but I have to go with Bally. Paragon and Eight Ball Deluxe are two of my all-time favorites. Centaur and Fathom are fantastic. If we include the Bally/Midway/Williams era then the list of pins with Bally on the backglass is staggering. The Addams...
It's no EBD, but Laser Cue is not bad. It has a similar layout to Sorcerer. That's no surprise, since they're both Williams machines from the mid-'80s.
The first table to say "Quit talking and start chalking" was EBD. Bally wins.
I'll just hold off on the Mavericks update for a version or two. That's standard practice for me, anyway. Why beta test if there is no clear upside? I already have a fine OS.
Visual Pinball still has huge appeal to those who wish to play hundreds of tables. There are many of my favorite tables that have pretty much zero chance of ever being a part of TPA. Some of us have been playing pinball for decades, and the older tables still have appeal.
The downturn at VPF is...
The instructions for the controls leave out an important part—you can only toggle the cam lock when the ball is in play. There are two ways to toggle the cam lock:
1. Press and hold (and then release) the cam icon
2. Tap the spacebar
You can change the cam angle when the ball is ready to be...
I gave Gorgar my lone 10. It's my favorite table that is currently in TPA. I like all of the tables currently in the top ten, but White Water has never quite grabbed me.
Apparently, I also like Centaur and Big Shot a bit more than most voters.
I voted only for the musts:
1. Paragon
2. Joker Poker
3. Fathom
I voted for many others in the earlier polls. I just can't imagine TPA without these three.
I see two-table packs of DMD + non-DMD for the foreseeable future. The idea that no one wishes to purchase non-DMD tables is wishful thinking on the part of DMD partisans. If anything, we'll see longer times between releases before we'll see consistent one-table releases. Kickstarters/expensive...
You can often accomplish a death save with a good shove forward on the pin. Doing it with one hand can be tough on the wrist, so let the hand holding the flipper up help out.
Visual Pinball implements a key (T) for bang back (AKA death save.) I assume the T is for tilt. It acts as an unusually...
