I've started to update my mod on DX11 public beta build and it goes well, here are 2 screens to show you how it looks with the first tests i made in hybrid and full table view:

Looks great!!! And ... NoEx, how does it feel to be the only one in the World at the moment who's able to play in portrait mode?

Anyone can play in portrait mode...just rotate your desktop and run the config utility.

Cab mode with a proper top-down view, now that's a different story and NoEx's mod appears to be the only solution at the moment.

At the time he wrote this, it was not possible to play in portrait mode without manually copying dx11_settings.dat in "My Games/Pinball Arcade" folder, the settings defined in the config utility were not saved properly, it has been fixed recently.

For those who are curious to see how the mod works in real conditions, here is a little video of live gameplay on my cabinet with proper top-down view of the table a.k.a cabinet view with static cam :p

Fair enough. I only got on the DX11 train yesterday after the facebook post (I hadn't lurked here in quite a while) so I incorrectly assumed that feature was already available as it was in the DX9 builds.

While I have you here, NoEx, with your mod would it be possible to tie user presets to hotkeys in order to switch from say a full top-down view to a hybrid view or a view of the backglass/DMD only? For instance, I could set my top-down view and tie it to CTRL-ALT-1 and set the backglass view and trigger it with CTRL-ALT-2.

It's an admittedly clunky potential solution to the cab/hybrid view problems, but one I wanted to run by you.

Thanks for everything you've done so far, btw...can't wait to see how this works myself. :)

Of course it would be possible to make such a thing with my mod, let's say that instead of having only one saved cam file per table (this is the way it works actually, one cam file per table e.g. "AddamsFamily.cam"), i can give the ability to save 3 cam files per table:

- AddamsFamily(1).cam (full top-down view)
- AddamsFamily(2).cam (hybrid view)
- AddamsFamily(3).cam (backglass/dmd view)

Or i must find a way to add different cam views in an unique table cam file.

Then you can load them in real time during gameplay by pressing corresponding hotkeys F1, F2, F3 (easier to press than CTRL-ALT-1 in my opinion), or just a key to cycle through the different views.

That's a good idea, i'll add it to my todo list :)

Thanks man. And yeah...I only suggested complex hotkeys because I couldn't remember what F1 etc. actually do in the Steam version of the game.

yes ... that would be very cool. Would be awesome if we could assign\map what key we wanted to use to switch between the views ....

Yes that would be cool but i thought about it and the main difficulty isn't to add the hotkeys binded to the different views, it's to find an easy way to use it, i don't really know how to setup everything on the overlay to make it as ergonomic as possible.

I'd probably be a good example of that ... I built the ultimate redneck cabinet - Plywood cabinet with my 32" TV set in it. I mounted 2 keyboards (one on each side) and popped out the keys I do not need. On the right side I use keys ~, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 for Hud on\off, cam view, plunger, flipper, and nudge (in that order). On the left side I just have keys "NumLock" and "/" for Left nudge and left flipper. Also on the right side keyboard I use Enter, Backspace, left arrow, right arrow, up, and down, and also "o" (for scroll lock).

I would need the ability to choose and\or edit my own hotkeys for your Mod if you had hotkeys for different views. No big deal though ... I'll be totally happy with single awesome portrait view!

I was talking about the general usage of my mod and how to implement the feature on the HUD, it must be easy to use.

The multiple cam views per table is a great idea. Would be good to have an option to define just one key which would toggle through the views a bit like the TPA camera button does.

So put your seat belts on. But ... before you kill me ... I invested $200 in a Sceptre TV. Its LCD and supports 1080x1920 ... done. I spent $35 on plywood and already owned everything else I needed (all seasons on TPA, usb hub, speakers, keyboards, PC with AMD 6 core, 8 GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 560 - yes runs DX11 like a champ). in a nut shell, I'm having a blast. It plays great. My family thinks I'm crazy.

Lol. Now that's a sweet table Nudnick. I love to see tables like this. Main thing is that you're having fun with it who cares what anybody else thinks. :D

nice! Every cab is better than no cab.
I like the silver table, shabby and yet si-fi looking.
