Lets remember that there were only ten commissioned, so there's a very good chance that the only people who currently own them are either previous high ups at Gottlieb or pinball fanatics with too much cash. Maybe someone's let them take theirs apart so they don't have a panic attack everytime they play.

I think DarkAkatosh is just misunderstanding the "scripting" debate for older Gottliebs. Scripting refers to how the virtual table is programmed, of course (as opposed to full emulation of the original chipsets), and it has nothing to do with the machine's assembly or visual recreation.

They don't emulate every machine.

Like I said, you're confusing the two. No, they can't emulate certain tables, but whether they can emulate the original programming or not, they still buy a physical table to recreate its measurements, artwork, and gameplay feel as accurately as they can. And even if the table was in PHoF, they still follow the same process and do not simply enhance the existing 3D models. That should be very obvious between the versions of Big Shot, Pin*Bot, and others.

Edit: Found it, I was thinking I was in the pack 16 thread. Oops

Um, please tell me what tables they don't own. When I was up there, every table that had been released was represented by an actual table. Let's see, BK is scripted and waddya know, it was there! Black Hole, yep they had one of those too. Saw it with my own eyes, they have the tables. Why else would they have spent that much money on CC? They are not going to PHOF to take photos like they did for the discs.

Let's stop this bit of speculation right now.

they spent that much on CC because thats what they sell fore and since it wasnt a rehash they didn't have it on file.

shutyertrap has already confirmed that Farsight *do not* re-use "on file" tables. Quit with the FUD.

from what I have seen Im not buying it. If the tables aren't emulated then the table is just used to see how the ball behaves and pictures? I'll admit i was shocked to see a victory but just because i stand next to a race car doesnt make me a REAL driver. Why is every release a NEW pin and an OLD rehash? So FS can focus all the attention on the NEW non pictured not in thier data base yet while the rehash gets a primping with new graphics and physics tweaks. Funny how all the tables that are "emulated" are rehashes huh?

I think shutyertrap's first hand experience trumps all of this useless speculation. FS is going to great lengths to make TPA the best it can be, all community complaints aside. Reckonize!

And BTW, thank goodness for TPA, cuz I've been laid up with a muscle tear in my back all day, and at least it's given me a good excuse to play some pinball.

Why are people insisting the GN will be scripted? A FarSight emplyee has already told us they plan on emulating every table they can from now on. And I believe the ROM image is available for this table.

Mike Reitmeyer said:
We plan to emulate any tables we make going forward, that can be emulated. Doing tables we already released is a bit of work, so it'll depend on management's decisions on which ones to do and when. BK in particular needs it cause of the bugs.

@pinwiz or whoever runs the newsletter section of the site: I noticed that there is no copy of newsletter #1 in the newsletter section. I checked my email and I actually have it (it is dated 2/11/12). Would you like me to send it to you when I get the chance so that the newsletter section can be completed?
