I think adding more old 70's style tables isn't a very good idea. In fact, most of the ones already on TPA are the ones I play/like the least.

Everyone knows the best tables are from the mid 80's-mid 90's. Just check sales and fan polls.

I think a lot of that is because people haven't had a lot of opportunity to play some of the older pins. People like what they know. I wouldn't expect people who have grown up playing DMD pins exclusively to vote for a Gottlieb pin from 1976. I love a lot of the pins from the 80's & 90's. But there are a lot of terrible pins in that era too. Too often the DMD haults the game flow to watch a cutaway or play a video mode that I'm not usually interested in. I'm not surprised by the poll results or rankings on many sites. They are exactly what I would assume them to be. But I also don't find them to be accurate in all instances when it comes to quality of gameplay. I like a variety of different style pins. I just don't want a library of pins that look and feel too similiar. From my point of view the mid to late 70's Gottliebs are currently underrepresented. While I think we have plenty of modern era DMD pins with a bash toy on them. I know most won't agree with my opinion but I was just putting it out there. I'm sure the DMD games sell better on The Pinball Acade but if you check the list of most actual pinball machines produced/sold (see link below). You will find a nice mix of styles of pin which is all I'm advocating.

I think it would be a huge mistake to only represent tables from that period. I want to see an even mixture of great tables from all periods. I REALLY want more tables from the 70's and early 80's!

I had quite a few friends come over, who had never played something as old as "Central Park", and after playing it, said that it made them hate pinball. Hahahaha

I do hear what you're saying, but in my opinion, most don't like the older pins... even those who grew up in that era.

I'm not sure how anyone can say with a straight face that something like "Central Park" or "Genie" is more fun than say, "The Addams Family" or "Dr. Who"?

I'm all about a good, even mix, but so far, there's a TON of GREAT mid 80s-90's tables that haven't been touched. Heck, you can add a year's worth of 70's tables, right after you add some more stuff like "Dr. Who", "Addams Family", "Bram Stoker's Dracula", and "A Nightmare on Elm Street". That way, I got some more to last me ;)

Like I said before, the tables I least play, and the ones I least enjoy are the early pin tables. My wife hates them more than I do. Hahahaha

See I much prefer the look of something like Big Shot over A Nightmare on Elm Street - just can't get over how cheesy looking that Freddie head is. I'm all for a variety of tables because everyone has a different opinion and nostalgia about these tables.

I'm glad you're not the only one playing:eek: Don't worry, they're still going to release a bunch of those tables.

Actually, I probably would find Genie more fun than Doctor Who. Doctor Who is a cruel and punishing table, and also a bit of a one-trick pony once you dial in the Cliffhanger ramp shot.

Again, I'm biased. I'm a HUGE Elm Street fan, so I couldn't care less how cheesy the head looks. (And I totally agree with you by the way!)

...and like I said before, I like variety too. If I didn't, I wouldn't be a season Pinball Arcade buyer. (I just really, REALLY prefer the mid 80's-90's tables. Hahahaha)

I'm not saying I'd take Central Park over The Addams Family. I'm with you on that. I also don't expect a fifty fifty split between old school and modern era pins. My main concern is that if there will only be a small amount of pre 1980 pins that I hope they are selected wisely.

I agree wholeheartedly with Kolchak. I'm old enough to have played quite a few pins in the 80s, but none in the 60s or 70s, even if I've managed to catch a few of the tables from that era later on. Still, I would like to see the occasional classic from that era. Central Park is okay, but I love Big Shot and Genie. And Ace High is still a possibility if FarSight continues updating the last handful of Gottliebs.

There probably won't be many, and FarSight is likely to pack them with more recent tables for those who don't like the oldies. But I believe Fireball, Slick Chick, and Evel Knievel would fit perfectly into the TPA library, among others.

As long as the flippers are 3" i'll play and enjoy the table. Big Shot kills Central Park for that reason to me.

I just want to say thanks to all who voted for Flight 2000. It has really taken me by surprise. What a great table. I am playing it more than any other.

I find I gravitate to the older tables at the moment because what you need to do to win on these games is simple, and fun for short gameplay bursts.

No 2 hour march to the wizard mode. The older tables are great for variety and quick gratification.

You are welcome. I am glad you are enjoying Flight 2000. I can't wait to play it. Hopefully other naysayers will come around and enjoy it too
