Can someone put me out of my misery and help me understand how I'm supposed to do Champion Pub? I absolutely loathe the TPA version of it (I quite like the real thing). I just can't get anything going on it ever. I understand the 2x purse strategy, I understand the jab combo + smart punch...
A big problem is that the raison d'etre of their tables isn't a pinball table, but a license. The pinheads get the "deep" rulesets, the arcade crowd gets pictures of a familiar intellectual property, rinse and repeat. The pinball table is an art form of its own, but the modern Stern is like a...
Yes, I agree. Compare Stern Star Trek to ST:TNG for example. It's absolutely no contest. ST:TNG has a creative layout, a good variety of different challenges and styles, some good stop-start moments in the gameplay... the Stern Star Trek is, like many of their tables, just monotonous...
I'd say absolutely yes. WH2O is one of my favorites in TPA so when I had the chance to play the real thing I had it down. ST:TNG too. Not world-beating scores by any means but enough to feel good about it. But the most obvious one is PinBot. Played it a bunch before I ever heard of TPA and got...
See this is where I actually think being on the phone helps. Like I said I'm on the S5 only and a nudge on there is just a quick move up of the thumb, not too intrusive. I don't doubt that the keyboard is faster than that but I can't imagine it's as easy on a big tablet.
All this discussion...
As a representative for Android, I really hope it's not about differences between platforms... I'd hate to think all the time I've spent improving on Android could have been replaced with a platform switch. :)
This might sound stupid (and of course this is just my taste), but for me the weakness of MB is precisely that it is supposedly closest to this Platonic ideal of a perfect table. One person's weaknesses are another person's points of interest. Unfairness, lumpy scoring, nonlinearities, all of...
The theme doesn't interest me at all, but I had fun banging around on a Wrestlemania a couple months ago. Of the ones I've played out of this list it felt the most distinctive to me.
I have it too on Android but it isn't just after maxing out. I had it on fault trip 40something and it stayed that way until a drain. Fine on the next ball.
Yeah, a lower secondary button position definitely helps, but it's for sure still not perfect. I think it's tap higher for up and lower for down but I haven't found it 100% reliable.
I'm with Eldar, I do the freeways with left orbit to a live catch on the right flipper, rinse repeat. If the live catch goes awry nine times out of ten the ball still ends up under control on the right flipper.
Key to video mode in 5th gear is to be proactive instead of trying to react: as...
I managed a 2.5b but I got half hearted pretty quickly. I just couldn't get many super jackpots, and without that the score moves painfully slowly. Flashbacks to my struggles with CftBL for the same reason.
I've never had the chance to play the real version of this table, so I'm glad to finally see what all the fuss is about. On first impression I'm slotting it an easy 2nd of the Ritchie tables in TPA, a ways behind ST:TNG but comfortably ahead of the rest which don't do much for me at all.
The...
100% agree here. I've only activated BftK once. I got through the whole thing, had the castle open and the ball trapped. And then totally bricked it. But damn, it was the biggest rush in TPA so far.
I don't find Bear Kick->Bonus X->Left Ramp->Swamp to be that risky. An early miss will sometimes send you into the chair, which is nice, and a late miss just bumps the G-R targets for little risk. The only issue is rattling around in the bumpers, but the consolation is the grave value. Plus...
Good to know. On the TAF I've played most often you definitely have juuuust enough power to loop it but it's definitely more accessible than it should be.
