The point is that this is how actual pinball machines work. You can't change ball trajectory by nudging unless the ball is touching a playfield feature, unless you slide the entire table out from under the ball, which is generally not something you can get away with without a tilt unless you're...
Not quite. Due to the variance of the bounces from the ramp I'm pretty sure it's not possible to get consistent enough at the four way. I may just not be good enough to do it, but from some testing that seemed to be the case.
Ok here's my actual strategy:
0-30 seconds (optional): Get the...
I've noticed the tournaments end early pretty much every time I've been in one. I don't know what the issue is, but it seems pretty consistent. Both PS3 and Steam claim I didn't participate either but my score is still in the listing at least for Steam. PS3 doesn't show any scores for anyone atm.
Nudging in TPA would be really easy to fix I think. Simply make it not affect the ball's trajectory at all unless the ball is touching a physics object. That would make it behave nearly realistically, since the only way nudging a real table does what it does in TPA is if you slide the entire...
Some pretty tight competition arrived on the PSN side. Current #1 is at 715M, with the #2 at 690M and change. I was pretty happy with that game honestly since even though it's not really that close to the Steam score, I made a pretty big blunder during it in accidentally locking a ball towards...
Also something I found out during this tournament is that there's still a flipper delay on ps3 at 720p. It's very very small but probably like 1-2ms more than on steam. It's small enough that it only requires a small adjustment though. In 1080p it was just totally impossible to gauge the shots...
Well I did it so I know how it was done
I have to say though that it was damn nearly a perfect game. I doubt I can top that again in a reasonable number of tries.
I generally don't give out strategies and not playing on mobile anyway, but if I happen to win PSN or Steam I'll spill the beans. I'll keep things to myself till it's over though.
e: Also it's definitely a lot easier on portrait mode steam than on PSN, even after eliminating the flipper delay...
Much thanks for the tip Tann. Managed to get a much more decent score on PS3 after switching to 720p.
e: And just had a really kickass game on steam. Things are looking pretty decent.
Oh well. I'm not expecting to win anyway. If someone feels the need to cheat just to win a piece of glass that's just sad for them. Like I said I'll assume people are playing legit. I'm having fun just competing.
I'm assuming farsight can detect that? If not oh well. I'm going to give it my best shot anyway. I just assume people are playing legit unless proven otherwise.
Interesting. Massive_Drake is on the run to win steam as well possibly. Maybe it's time to dust off the old PS3 and see if I can't give him a run on both platforms.
The problem is the flipper delay on PS3 makes the timings on the platforms slightly different. It's pretty impressive he's doing...
Things are heating up on steam. 571M is the current #1 score, and Moovenstein and Eldar joined the fray as well.
It's a shame you can't see the current tournament scores online anywhere as far as I know. Would be interesting to see how PSN and Mobile is doing as well, and just generally monitor...
Current high on steam is 532M, with only 7 participants so far. Since we have 10 days to work on it I expect we'll get a few more along the line though.
