Protip: turn off the table music in the sound menu and that kills most of the annoying speech as well. You do lose the 1812 theme but I prefer to play without it anyway, it's too hyperactive for a multiball where you need to be deliberately catching and carefully shooting.
Funny, I think T2's layout and fun factor are perfectly fine. It's almost identical to AFM (skull = saucer) that everyone loves. Pounding the ramps for Payback Time is always satisfying. It's T2's rules that are shallow compared to everything post-TAF and usually what folks complain about...
Don't judge T2 by the post-TAF DMD era of pins, it's really not on that level. It's much more like the alphanumeric games like Funhouse or Whirlwind - get multiball, get jackpot/millions, get a sequence of awards that includes an EB (mirror/cellar/escape route). For its era T2 was perfectly...
It's worth it only if you're going to use it. I bought pro mode for season 1 thinking why not for just the few extra bucks, but in fact I've never gone to activate it on any of the tables. One game of Scared Stiff with the family rating disabled is about the only use I'd ever make of it.
Right, so don't do nothing. Hold the right flipper to scoop the ball up into the inlane. That's what you're supposed to do on both a real Whitewater machine and TPA.
This isn't TPA/Farsight's fault, but I noticed an odd but helpful bug with the ROM.
When Double Trouble is active for double scoring, the Deadheads score award gets doubled *twice*. If it's at the maximum of 2,475,000, the displayed value will be doubled to 4,950,000... and then doubled again...
Aha. I hadn't really thought about it, but yeah I do think I prefer the 500 method. Including more data deeper into the rankings can only help, plus that also reduces the spread at the high end between like #1 and #10. The downside is hurting players who haven't played many tables, which...
I think something went wrong with the math. The log method is very heavily weighted to the top of the scale (one #1 is worth two #10) so yeah that doesn't sound right. #30 is worth only 23 points and #50 only 15, so I can't see how that could add up to over 500 total for Inspector42.
I still...
Why do you require this? Is there a mathematical basis, or just doing it that way because you have been? All sorts of functions are easier to work out with a baseline of 0 rather than 1. The difference between 0 or 1 point at the bottom of the board won't mean anything for the total rankings...
Wow, neck and neck on me and AntonR. But the timing just missed some games I just played tonight, took #1 on Harley and #3 on Whirlwind.
As for the dropoff formula, here's some brainstorming. Make it so that every doubling in rank is equal. So the difference between places 1-2 is equal to...
This varies extremely wildly by table. Terminator 2 is my go-to example. I have #1 and over double the #2 score, but I'm not twice as good at all. That table is pretty easy to go infinite with EBs, so all that means is I sank twice as much time into it as the other guy. We're equal in skill...
+1 for Space Jam, my top one from this list. Always been a personal pleasure with its well-developed rules. It could pass for a 90's Williams. And I want to see it in TPA because it never quite plays right on location - the flipper is never strong enough to make the basket shot reliably.
The Pitch & Putt award is your bonus for the current ball. This is increased by 1M for every hit on the hidden bumpers by the captive ball. If you shoot the captive ball correctly from a catch on the right flipper, your ball is guaranteed to come back to a catch to do it again, thanks to TPA's...
Don't bother trying to complete the missions. You don't need to. They're not worth enough points. Artifacts come way easier from the Holodeck (look up the correct tunnel sequence if you don't know it) which you can light for free at the start of each ball. When you do start a mission, either...
The holes are indicated by playfield lights. 1-6-9 are at the volcano, 2-4-8 at the right ramp, 3-5-7 at the rightmost sinkhole.
There isn't any separate holes-in-one tally like NGG.
Yes, this game is surpisingly decent and unfairly underrated. It's not at all a weak imitation of NGG like...
Yes, No Fear is a license. It's a clothing brand, big in the 90's and still exists now. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Fear
One would think the license would be nearly free, as the company would be grateful for the exposure.
Nice list. I'd split up and eliminate that one category by moving the Spideys up into the "MOAR TOYS" list, so that Wheel and IJ can join the "WTF" list that they so heartily deserve.
Yes, oh, absolutely, yes. I came here just to post about this. What's with those extra-tall plastics sitting on like the third story up above the inlanes? You can't see the ball as it approaches the flippers on every inlane feed, which happens approximately every four seconds on this table...
Thing is, what material is left to stream and post? The challenges were perfect but now I've done them. I don't like making a serious high score run while recording or streaming, since the machine doesn't play fully smoothly. Also many tables take 12+ hours for a leaderboard score which...
