I believe that it is possible the phenomenon you guys are feeling is fatigue. It becomes harder to make shots because you over-think it or over/under-react, balls drain because you arent as fresh and on-point. The longer you play any game the harder it becomes to maintain peak performance...
I'll be at the Chicago Expo, for sure! I noticed it's 24 hours for a couple days. Would you happen to know when the optimal time to go is? I mean most active/rare machines to lowest attendee population. I got to the Louisville Arcade Expo this spring around Noon on Friday and pretty much had the...
Even though I'm not into super-rampy games so much, I do tend to go for the ramps, especially if I'm not familiar with a table. On encountering a new table, I kind of just shoot around, paying attention to the callouts and whatever is lighting up and not really paying attention to points. I...
I have been thinking a lot about the individual design tropes of pinball designers and thought it would be fun to rank and compare them. Everyone has a few mediocre games but some have stellar resumes.
EDIT: List revised after further consideration
1) Pat Lawlor
2) Steve Ritchie
3) Dennis...
Genuinely curious, why do you rate Party Zone so highly? The theme is fun but the music is TERRIFYING. I find the game pretty so-so. It's definitely better than Dr. Dude but it feels very much like a sequel. I usually really like Dennis Nordman games, White Water is one of my all-time favs. But...
TNT what the hell, those tables look much better than the physmod tables I tried. What exactly are you using?
Also, the tables I've played are all seen from directly overhead with all elements flattened out rather than in perspective. It sucks
I guess I play so much Zen Pinball that I don't really have any easy time seperating design in real pinball from design tropes in Zen. Zen has some terrible score balance.
But yeah, I also don't like when a single shot is worth half your final score.
What do you envision in a Fight Club table?
Hmmm. This one is kinda obscure, but a Cadillacs and Dinosaurs/Xenozoic Age table with art by Mark Schultz would be incredible.
Or how about The Tick? While we're talking Ben Edlund we might as well have a Venture Bros. table too! Both would be...
Ok, last night I installed VP and got everything working fine, mostly. I'm sticking with physmod5 tables for now and I think the physics are pretty great. However, some of the dropbox links to the physmod tables are down. I'm also confused about tables with multiple ROMs. Some of the tables I...
And it's not from HoF, either. On mobile, these tables are serviceable. Not pretty, but okay when the camera is zoomed out. On PC, though, I think they're pretty unacceptable. The textures look absolutely terrible and I don't know how FS can be proud to sell them for what they do. No wonder...
Because that would be confusing. Why wouldn't Stern want all of their tables exclusive to their app? We don't even know if legacy tables are even in the picture. It could be just the more recent games and/or future releases. Most people agree that the real purpose of the SPA is to promote and/or...
I loooove Breakshot. Fell in love with it at the Emporium in Chicago. It's a really neat homage to classic EMs and early SS. I thought Pinball Magic was cool but I wasn't very good at it. Corvette is a cool table but the one I played just made me so angry. If we get another car-themed table I...
WOAH WOAH WOAH, I could listen to the real opening theme on loop for 24 hours.
Also, first time I've seen the "serious" 90s intro. Weird mix of credits, Sean Bean but no Jason Momoa?
Don't get me wrong, I would love to try BBB as well, through TPA or whatever. But it seems like a luxury inclusion.
Surprised by the lack of love for Blackwater 100. Such a neat design. Interesting that no one has mentioned No Fear in this thread.
I modded my iCade with side buttons and haven't looked back. Funny thing, in all my time playing TPA I failed to check out Challenge mode. So I did and I noticed you can't use the iCade? What's up with that?
WCS is an awesome classic and it is a shame about the license. It's funny that most people want Big Bang Bar despite having never played it. What if it sucks? Maybe a more time-proven (and much easier to obtain) game deserves that spot.
Indiana Jones 93 really does seem like a must, though. I...
Banzai Run, Spectrum, Mousin' Around all seem in high demand, and of course Big Bang Bar for obvious reasons. Johnny Mnemonic, Demo Man, Shadow, Simpsons, LOTR seem to be the most demanded licensed games, very hard choice. Might as well right-off any future Stern games appearing in TPA, though...
