Tried giving Visual Pinball a shot

I want to get into VP to supplement the missing TPA tables. Where should I start? What are the 20 best tables (in terms of VP conversion) that aren't in TPA? I'm definitely after physmod tables. I play a lot of Zen, too, so I'm used to a heavier ball with spin.

Hypothetical: Farsight announces Season 5 is the last. What needs to make the cut?

Scary thought, I know, but if there were only 7 tables left after Frankenstein, what 7 do you think are absolute-musts? Keep in mind that more than two additional licensed tables would be implausable, so pick at least 4 unlicensed games. Personally, even knowing that FS might stop after Season...

    Request Hurricane

I like the idea of having complete series of tables as we do with BK and the Bots. Played Hurricane in Chicago and really couldn't get into it - but I was much worse and less experienced then. I do really like Cyclone and Hurricane has a far less-terrifying Clown face staring at you.

Are there any good coffee-tablish books about pinball art?

WhiteChocolate I played the KISS one time in Nasville, thought it was cool enough. Certainly better than Wrestlemania. I don't care for the music but I also don't care for AC/DC or Metallica. A good table trumps the theme, though, and all the music by those bands is still fun to play pinball to...

Why is nudging such a big part of the game?

I think nudging can further damage a machine. Just the other day the Blackwater 100 i was going to play had a screw from the 3-ball starting lock on the playfield. A Dolly I played sometime back had a rubber cap caught under a rollover switch.

Are there any good coffee-tablish books about pinball art?

oh, quite sad. The park is in a semi-dilapidated state. A lot of the rides aren't operational and the park is already pretty small. Despite this, they still charge $5 extra just to run through the Spook House. What's truly outrageous is the cost of admission. It costs as much as a park like...

Why is nudging such a big part of the game?

Ok, this is a noobish question but I've only been playing pinball for about two years. So why is nudging such an accepted aspect of pinball? Is it to counter the quarter-eating strategies and random variables of the game? Is it becuase you can't really stop people from doing it? Or is it because...

Your Dream-Themes For Tables That Don't Exist

You guys, R. Crumb is still alive and active at 72! Somebody with money, hire him for a pin before he croaks! It's such a perfect marriage! How does everyone feel about a table inspired by M.C. Escher? How about H.P Lovecraft? That would be stellar. While we are at it, the 80's Re-Animator...

Are there any good coffee-tablish books about pinball art?

Yeah, there used to be a Jillian's, too. The only arcade in Indy is Tilt @ Circle Centre Mall and it's a complete joke. No pins, obviously, but pretty much nothing worth playing at all. A bunch of dated racing and lightgun games. They do have some solid fighting games but the machines are in...

    Request CONGO Pinball Table

Ugh, Congo, Mnemonic and LAH are all so good... Part of me wants LAH the most simply because it's a Data East and TPA needs more Data East.

Request what are the chances of seeing INDIANAPOLIS 500 on TPA?

Having played both, I would much rather have Indy 500.

What's your favourite table you know will never come to TPA?

In keeping with original criteria of the thread being unlicensed, I'm gonna say any Capcom tables. I wanted to play Elektra more than I could because i felt like I only saw the surface. I highly doubt that will make it. Orbit is a really cool, one-of-a-kind table concept that I'd love to have...

Are there any good coffee-tablish books about pinball art?

WhiteChocolate are you saying the IU Union Monopoly is gone? Cripes... The Slippery Noodle Inn has a better one, though... The Purdue Union has Iron Man and Family Guy. The Arni's in Lafayette has an OK Pirates and a useless Simpsons Pinball Party (right upper flipper has almost zero juice...

How many pinball machines can you name that have something to do with Dracula?

You don't know hell until you've lived in a town where your only choices are Dr. Dude and Hollywood Heat.

Your Dream-Themes For Tables That Don't Exist

Wow, Wizards made me think of Fritz the Cat, which made me think of R. Crumb. A wholly-original Crumb-designed (art-wise) table would be sooooo good. This got me on a new train of thought: What visual artists would you like to see design the art for an original table? Immediately springs to...

Are there any good coffee-tablish books about pinball art?

Last I checked The Vid got rid of their Pirates of the Caribbean. Pinballmap.com says the Walmart there has a Wrestlemania and that the Classic Lanes on N. Willis has a Stern Indy Jones... can't confirm those.

Are there any good coffee-tablish books about pinball art?

so any recommended? Hey, WhiteChocolate! You're in Bloomington? I'm up in Indianapolis. If there's a KISS I might have to hoof it down there and hit up the Union while I'm at it. Lately I've been going to Midwest Sports Complex on 71st. They have a Rollergames, Pinbot and Cleopatra all working...

Are there any good coffee-tablish books about pinball art?

I consider pinball tables a kind of pop-art and would love a photo-heavy gallery book on tables and the art that adorns them.
