It's not *my* list, it's the list of tables that would be ranked higher than the first flipperless, if TPA players were polled. You can look at the top of the Williams & Bally polls for this site for some, and the IPDB or pinside rankings for others.
Absolutely not. Not even one a season. Not even one, period.
There are still a hundred, maybe several hundred, *great* non-licensed tables left, and it would be wrong to add any non-fun tables until all the great ones have been made.
I made a mistake and didn't update my ranking program to look at WD, oops. I will probably fix that in a bit.
These data (I have the top 500 scores on each table now) came from a program. But my first set of data, from last month, I copied from the leaderboard webpage by hand.
I will strongly consider this. I will probably do it, with either 1/2 or 2/3 the number of tables. Thanks for the input.
I am curious now if there are certain tables that are skipped by the top players much more often than others.
Here is a new Top 100. Some changes:
- I snagged the data for this ranking this morning (2014-03-21).
- I decided to award points in an exponential-decay way. If R is a player's rank on a table, I gave him 100 * exp(-0.0465 * (R-1)) points for that table. (The "-1" and "-0.0465" are to give...
When I write "WMS", I mean Williams or Bally. Sorry, this was the common convention in the good old days. Maybe I should stop doing that.
"I think there is a limit to how many items can be listed in a poll (30 I think) so they had to be split somehow."
What about just splitting them...
There is no reason to break up the polls by manufacturer. This loses information, mainly that WMS machines are vastly preferred over Gottlieb and DE/Sega machines, and I am afraid that putting Gottliebs in their own poll was partly responsible for that run of them at the end of Season 2. It...
I am trying to work toward 3M on Genie. I had a high score of around 1.1M on Friday, and then played it for three hours and got up to 1.3M (#258). Then I played it three more hours Saturday and got up to 2.2M (#73). I got a little derailed playing WD on Sunday, but I'm getting back to Genie...
MS are the initials of Mark Sprenger, artist on nine fine WMS tables: SpSh, High Speed, Fire, Banzai Run, Jokerz, Diner, Harley-Davidson, High Speed II, and BS's Dracula.
But it appears that his middle initial is W. :-/
I will be happy for any Williams/Bally machine, though I do not prefer...
29 steam friends here. At most 7 of them showed up on friend leaderboards when it was working (on most tables).
I went through all the tables... I see a friend leaderboard for AFM, CC, HH, CBW, BK2K, SpSh, and TZ (with 5-9 people on these), and "None" for all other tables.
Good luck...
I'd love to put up videos myself, but I either have a not-strong-enough video card, or not enough CPU, or can't figure things out. I downloaded and tried a few vid capture programs, but while they are recording, my puter is so strained that TPA is pretty much unplayable. I have tried looking...
Thanks for the post... I got it, pretty quickly, doing this. The key is to just keep retrying until that right spiral shot is not clean, so it's slowed going around the loop. The rest is easy.
Absolutely. I'll note though that I have very often played machines with kickouts nearly as predictable and railroaded as TPA's machines. (This is when I played in the 1990s through about 2002.) I think it is perfectly dandy and fine if some, maybe half, of the TPA tables have predictable or...
It's pinballwiz45b, a Top 20 player who posts here a lot. It looks like he has 16 vids. I'll have to check out his Haunted House one soon -- I have no idea what the top players do on that table.
