Hear, hear. Gottlieb has zero even decent tables after about 1990. CBW, T'eed Off, CO1812 and Victory are already way too much awfulness for anyone to be exposed to. I also hope for no Data Easts, at most one Stern, and at most one EM. Some Williams/Bally machines I don't want to see...
As a quick update... the top five are gone now. The only scores that look impossible to me now are:
Big Shot - Tomakin - 10,030,250
Central Park - beavis - 7,503,900
I suppose I might be more concerned if there was like ten impossible scores on a single table, but of course that is not...
This After Dark business sounds like a horrible idea to me. But I've gotten used to it. I wish they could just make new tables and fix bugs. I guess that's too boring.
Grumble grumble get off my lawn.
Thanks also for the inspiration. I just got it. It took about six tries. I didn't get a big score like other folks. But I did get the Special wizard goal, and still need the Mosh Pit Super Jackpot. This table is really hard for me. At least it is big fun to play.
I don't mind a single leaderboard too much, but I would definitely support splitting it by platform. I might even favor that change to a friends leaderboard. I think the chances of either happening within six months are very low. And there are a few changes I would prefer to either (fixing...
Emulated sensor? Well, the ROM does what it does when it can't find a ball... a ball search. This has been reported on several tables... it's happened on SS, RBioN, and CV for me, and I reported that in the Bugs thread here. And maybe BH. I remember that some real machines would kick out...
I am not saying those scores are not impossible. I am saying more reasoning, evidence, proof is needed to claim that they are the result of hacks, rather than of farsight or table bugs. And for some scores, it has been given, which is great! I'm sorry for any misunderstanding.
I've been thinking what would be needed to have a player-run tournament. The issue is integrity of scores. Someone's scores could be checked if the only score used is a player's high score on a game. (Is there a better way?) I propose the following for a tournament.
1. A few hours before...
Well OK, I am assuming that the score-upload process uses encryption as such that uploading a fake score is impossible. Maybe this is not done.
You know, the probability that in a given game, you do something that has never been done before is very close to 1. So I don't buy the stumbling on...
It's about a million times more likely that these scores are due to bugs in the table or in Farsight's emulation than that they are hacked. What is the evidence that a hack has occurred? Has someone posted proof?
