Official - Creature from the Black Lagoon & Black Knight Are Next Tables

Is that what the Knight was saying? I could never figure it out!

    Why don't players like Gorgar?

I recall racking up some implausible scores on Jive Time in PHoF because the ball got jammed in an infinite loop where it was hitting a scoring target many times a second. But I doubt that could happen on Gorgar...

Wow... I had no idea how important nudging is.

I can say from experience that gestural interfaces where the same user action could potentially mean more than one thing are hard to get right. The existing design probably came from a desire to separate the flip and nudge gestures. You want to be able to nudge without also operating the...

    Request General Wish List Thread

Right. Pinball Hall of Fame actually had a credit system. Only some of the tables were set to free play by default; the others took credits to play, and you started out with a fairly small, finite quantity of credits (25?) So the credits meant something. However, they knew full well this was...

    Bug Android Version 1.0.9 Bugs

In this case it didn't, but I think I've seen that too. I suspect the touch driver on this thing is generally wonky. I know that, on some platforms, Android occasionally complains on the debugging backchannel when it sees what it thinks is a logically inconsistent chain of MotionEvents.

    XBLA Sales Figures?

Well, the PS3 fans eventually had their faith rewarded. But I've certainly gone from being an XBox player to primarily playing this on Android.

    Bug Android Version 1.0.9 Bugs

I recently got the right flipper stuck in the up position on both Bride of Pinbot and Black Hole. It behaved exactly like a stuck flipper on a physical machine. Ending the game from the table menu was the only way out, as far as I could tell. Not sure if this is a TPA bug, or an Android/touch...

    Favorite Rudy line?

Also, his petulant "I'm not hungry." when you start Superdog while he's in his bad mood.

Wow... I had no idea how important nudging is.

Yeah, the problem is that by the time it's obvious that you needed to do it, it's far too late. The key is learning the particular situations where a drain is going to happen if you don't nudge. And also when you shouldn't. Half the time, I nudge the ball into a SDTM.

    PS3 DLC Impressions

I don't know about the real table, but in TPA they are indeed viciously hard. The odd thing is that I can get the ball into Rudy's Hideout pretty easily coming in from the other direction, but it took me a very long time to get the skill shot: there's a microscopic plunger-force window between...

Has Farsight ever mentioned Harley-Davidson as a possibility? All I've seen are wishful statements from fans.

    Why don't players like Gorgar?

I rolled it over once or twice on the Wii. Haven't managed it on Android TPA yet.

    Raise your hand if...

The other thing that gets me about Black Hole is that it uses the opposite convention to the Williams/Bally games: you're trying to un-light the rollover lanes. Gorgar does it the more common way, in which the lit lanes are the ones you've already gotten. I suppose one could argue that Black...

Conceived by Steve Ritchie and implemented by Eugene Jarvis, the same guy who programmed Defender and Robotron.

Wow... I had no idea how important nudging is.

The XBox 360 version has stick control too, but for some reason it's hard for me to wrap my head around it. I actually liked the version of accelerometer nudging used by PHoF on the Wii. So I usually have the Android version set to shake control, since I just can't get the hang of swiping...

Does anyone out there want to see Jive Time in TPA?

I find Jive Time weirdly addictive in PHoF, probably because it's such a chance-dependent drain monster. It always feels like I ought to be able to do better on the next game. But I'd see little point in releasing it in TPA. There are far better old EM games out there, certainly better ones...

    The Future of TPA

The PS3 customer base actually seemed to take a long time to build. My initial impression was that it had flopped, and that people were hanging onto PS2s rather than buy one. But over time, as the price came down, I started to hear about friends and relatives getting them, and it gradually...

    The Future of TPA

Pinball fans like to have more pinball. Fantasy pinball doesn't particularly grab me, but I've been tempted to buy Pinball FX just to have more tables on my XBox. I'd guess the reverse would also be the case. (And most of the tables in PHoF and TPA were actually new to me, though if/when they...
