This shot is impossible to make from a trap on the left flipper. Also, the cow ramp shot on Attack From Mars is impossible to make from a trap on the left flipper. These are bugs that really need fixing in a future tune-up (if that ever happens).
Unfortunately, most flipper techniques cannot be used on TPA. It's one of the only gripes I have with the game. You can't do drop catches, live catches, proper cradle separations, flick passes, or anything involving less than a full strength flip. What you can do is dead flipper (bounce) passes...
For the record, I'm not in the "DMD or nothing" camp. Take a look at my sig. None of those machines have a DMD. Unfortunately for me, I doubt we'll see any of them. I'd like to see another poll similar to this current one, but with the early solid state machines nobody seems to care about.
I really don't understand the hate I'm seeing from some on this forum for Starship Troopers. Have you played it IRL? I love the machine and think it easily holds it's own with the best from Williams, Bally and Stern.
I think Medieval Madness is a good table to practice nudging on. Just go for castles exclusively and practice nudging to get the ball safely back on the flippers after each shot.
Also, along the lines of Central Park and Big Shot, is Gorgar since it's an early solid state with no ramps, bells...
I've played Starship Troopers extensively IRL. I think it is fantastic, one of my favorite tables ever. The little right flipper scores 2 bug hits (it might have other different scoring possibilities than the regular sized flipper that I am unaware of as well) and is most useful for putting the...
This is honestly one of my favorite tables ever. We have one at my pinball league and I put way more time into it than the rest of the games (most of the newer Sterns and some classic Bally/Williams era machines). The sound package is great and there are a lot of cool unique ideas in it (the...
If this gets ported to Steam it's a definite buy for me. I just can't get into playing video pinball on the small portable devices so I haven't considered it up to now, despite how awesome it looks.
I have tried the Oculus Rift and it is very light. It does not feel like a weight attached to your head. Also, when playing real pinball (the experience you would come very close to with the Rift) you are constantly moving your head to change your viewing angle, unlike TPA where you sit staring...
Defender is a fantastic game. It's the only game I can think of with a manual kickback that's triggered by a second button. And there's a second button on the other side that triggers smart bomb. It definitely needs more votes.
I love your choices here but I'm afraid we're in the minority. They would probably all end up near the bottom. I would pay a premium for Defender, Time Fantasy, Cosmic Gunfight, and the like though. I got to play a pristine Defender at a local show recently and couldn't believe how awesome it...
Road King's totally got my vote. Too bad it's almost certain to be ignored. I doubt many have played it in real life. The last time I saw one I sunk most of my money in it.
I hope it is LCA. I've really been interested in trying it ever since I heard the discussion on the Silverball podcast about it (http://www.silverballpodcast.com/page2.html - Episode 3 after the 1:19 mark). It sounds pretty cool. I guess the red and blue lights on top are supposed to have a big...
