I have a PS3 as well, but I'm not a big fan of the UI or the shop or the analogue triggers on the Dual Shock 3. Besides, I'm intrigued about how the second screen on the gamepad will be used.
Hopefully European release won't be far off and hopefully they'll have all tables available for purchase (with some kind of inviting discount for mass purchase).
Really looking forward to big-screen play!
Being from Chicago (along with the greatest pinball manufacturers), I heartily endorse this suggestion.
If they are going to do that head-to-head table they'll need to bundle it to be sure it sells, surely?
I like thumbs too. If you do want a controller I think the new Horipad is quite good. They've been making console controllers for decades; the buttons and d-pad are as good as anything else I've used and the price isn't too bad.
I'm with you @crawly and xray23! Defender, Sorcerer and others you guys named would be very much welcomed by me; more so than any new Sterns. Hopefully Farsight can continue to cater to us all.
vikingerik: I think it's more likely they'll do Eight Ball Deluxe with a different member of staff doing the voice samples each month for a year. Eight Ball Deluxe Ultimate All-Star Farsight Edition will be the biggest-selling virtual pinball series of all time!
I got to play an X-Files not long ago, wow does that table suck. The newer machines look way too plasticky to me and they just don't feel right, like there's magnets messing things about all the time. I dunno, Lord of the Rings is okay, but I preferred Avengers. I don't know what's up with...
Me too on the desire for polishing previous tables on some kind of schedule. And please can we have a "dark room" mode? Xenon just doesn't look right in a brightly lit room. A lot of the older Solid State machines would look amazing in a darkened room. I think that might rate higher for me than...
A lot of rights contracts do depend upon use, so although speculative, it would be a reason to ensure there's at least one, lest they need to re-negotiate a large number of tables.
I think the Premier tables are okay, at least Teed Off and Cue Ball Wizard, but some of the tables look cheap and...
I think external controller support is a must for using the DMD on Gamepad option. I have a stand for my Gamepad with a rotating mount for it and ideally I'd be using either a Pro Controller or Remote+Nunchuk with the Gamepad in the stand placed where I could see it. I can't see not supporting...
Fingers crossed. I just tried connecting my iPad to my TV using the Lightning-HDMI adapter and the Horipad and it's unplayable. I thought it might be controller lag at first, but no, it's the video refresh using the display mirroring that's out by a fraction of a second which isn't too much for...
I like Ace High; wouldn't mind seeing that or Sorcerer from previous console collections, but of the two Sorcerer definitely deserves a place if I had to choose.
I finally picked up a Horipad for my iPad, but I've not tried running The Pinball Arcade on my TV just yet. The main thing I'm hoping for with a Wii U version are enhanced visuals (read: lighting effects) and emulation on Black Knight and other tables where that hasn't been done in iOS.
I'm...
Yeah I think the similarity with Pin Bot is a bit overstated. It does resemble it, but it doesn't feel the same. So far I've only skipped two tables this season, so well done Farsight - looking forward to Xenon!
This is a bogus Standard Goal for sure. I occasionally take a stab at it, but compared to the Central Park 1000pt. single ball goal (which I finally nailed recently), it seems like an impossible dream!
Ah I hadn't considered that, but given they're able to get IBM to supply them now I can't see why they wouldn't in future. Economies of scale might make ARM more attractive, however, I agree.
Regarding New 3DS I think Nintendo has clearly decided to risk splitting the marketplace with Xenoblade Chronicles as indicated; I don't see how they can release hardware capable of running software that the standard 3DS cannot without allowing developers to release to that platform exclusively...
I thought folk would find this encouraging. I've had occasion to email Jay Obernolte in the past (mainly to say what I liked about what Farsight was doing and ask when Williams Pinball Classics was getting a UK release on the Wii) and it's been a few years so I said I'd still like to see...
