Can you access the Kicktraq link in my News thread from work?

Just read your message. Could you please point me in the right direction? I've searched through the board but I havent found the News thread. Thanks!!

Why is that? I actually think it's moving at a reasonable pace and the $55,000 target should be reached before the end of next week. That'll leave two more weeks to reach the $110,000 goal for Star Trek : The Next Generation. All FarSight has to do is get another video ready to promote the Star Trek table to draw in even more people to pledge.

I wish I could do more to help spread the word, but at work we're pretty busy now that the Fiscal Year is about to end. We're working long hours and I get home late at night.

I was thinking of going to TW, STTNG and pinball fansites or real pinball arcade rooms (fanmade flyers) to help spread the word either by fanmade videos or by writing.

There will be 1000's of new fans when Pinball Arcade finally hits the European PSN Store, although god knows how far away that might be.

I hope FarSight is working on that. European fans could really boost the Kickstarter to ensure both the TW and STTNG tables.

why should they wait for a paycheck? the money is not taken in until the kickstarter has finished sucessfully. so it doesn't matter if i pledge today or 1 second before it finishes...

Your right, and even though I for one was aware of this I have been unwittingly thinking that I will pledge some money next week after I have paid my car's road tax...doh.

Someone posted this on Facebook, and I have to admit they make a good point:

"One thing I'm not understanding is why is FS making a kickstarter for the entire amount of the license? It would seem they should have put up the average cost of a license then had the fans donate the rest. Answer that for me farsight? Maybe I'm just naive. If I'm wrong forgive me."

I believe Farsight has already or continues to pay Williams/Stern/Gottlieb for the rights to reproduce their tables. So the $55,000 represents the amount payable over their average costs.

I'm just guessing, but perhaps they're taking into account that it won't sell as many because at least 1200 people are getting the game free via kickstart? If 5000 people donate then it's 5000 less paying customers, they don't know what the final figure will be.

i believe the way it works is that Farsight already has paid the licenses for the table makers (bally, williams, stern, gottlieb)for a set amount of years as stipulated in that contract.

Twilight Zone and others however has additional licensing costs on top of the Bally license that already has been obtained. We didnt pay for the bally licence here.

bally no longer holds the license to twilight zone, as the bally contract with cbs has been expired for years.

This is why we are going to see DLC first for all the games where bally, williams, stern, gottlieb are the only owners of their own intellectual property. So you should expect to see all of these tables. i would also expect to see everything in the williams and gottlieb disc based games first as most of the hi rez artwork is already sitting on a hard drive in farsight's studios and is probably easy to convert to TPA

If it makes it to $52K, it'll make it to $55K...probably on the same day. But if for some reason it doesn't, FarSight doesn't have a choice. Kickstarter is all-or-nothing until the goal is achieved. Raising $54,999 is the same as raising $0 as far as the TZ project is concerned.

Whats to stop FS contributing themselves to the kickstarter? Maybe its against the rules but they wouldn't have to donate as themselves. I bet lots of kickstarters have ended just short so the owners of the project bumped it over the threshold themselves.

My thoughts *exactly*! Actually it would be pretty smart to do this, especially with the higher tiers... they could actually gauge their travel expenses for the $10.000 pinball party and decide to pay themselves and not do the party. Ha!
