I have a candy store near me that sells something called "Australian licorice". it's short thick pieces of licorice with a stronger flavor than a Twizzler. Really very good. I also love those little licorice pipes. They are kind of hard to find now, but I used to get them all the time as a kid and pretend I was smoking.

I love the "Australian-style-" licorice too! I've always wondered if it was really Australian or a marketing gimmick. I don't care, it's good!

Yeah, but this was the 70s, everybody and his brother smoked in those days.
BTW, it never made me smoke a real cigarette!
For me, the clincher was a photo in a high school Phys Ed textbook of a healthy lung side-by-side with a smoker's lung. I was up late studying for a test. Before I went to bed, I vowed never to take that first puff. To this day, I never did... ;)

You'll never regret it stay away from it. I smoked for 35 years it got to the point where is was sick and coughing all the time. I had bronchitis then sinus infections just one thing after another. Smoked for the last time last June 16th I've never felt better.

I don't see how anyone could view the IAP on Pinball Arcade as a "bait-and-switch" unless they didn't understand the meaning of that expression. People who paid for the season 3 pass are getting it - nobody is getting ripped off here. The paid content proposition in this game is far better than most applications: you pay five bucks you get to play a new game; optionally you can pay more for further game tweaks if you want or ball skins and that's it.

And you'll forgive me doubting anecdotal reports on their "bad reputation" - I'd say the company had already failed based upon Facebook comments, but clearly that's not the case.

Must be people don't understand. For anyone here that doesn't understand here is bait and switch in a nutshell. Store advertises 50" TV A for $499. you go in wanting to buy TV A but you get the run around. TV A is out of stock, back ordered, special delivery, whatever, and you can't have it. But the salesman is going to give you a great deal on TV B. He's going to drop the price to $599 and throw in free delivery because the other TV is out of stock. If you could see their books you might find out that both TVs cost the store the same amount. The store isn't going to sell TV A to anyone. They don't have any and don't have any on order. Decades ago this was common practice. Then most states passed consumer protection laws and cracked down on such practices. Today states don't have the resources to enforce their consumer protection laws but the free market keeps stores in check. They all have to compete with Amazon so they just won't sell any TVs running scams like that.

bait and switch is very much alive.

You get a flyer in the mail with a truly amazing car price.

Turns out there is exactly ONE of them, which will be grabbed by the first person there. Everyone else will hopefully settle for something else.

Low stock of the good deal is another form of bait and switch.

That's actually a "loss leader". They are willing to lose money on one simply for the additional customers if will bring in. Black Friday sales do.this very thing, but nobody calls it a bait and switch. The earlier description nailed that to a tee, where the item was never in inventory to begin with.

I don't see how the "bait and switch" deal is relavent. An example would be, you pay $30 (or $40 pro) for season X under the impression you're getting 10 fully digitized simulators of vintage pinball tables. Then they pull a Zen and you get 10 completely made up fantasy pinball themes. That would be a "bait and switch" since you didn't get what was advertised. The fact that they pulled Season 3 pack doesn't mean they won't fulfill their obligations by continuing to unlock pinball tables as they come out for those that got it. Now, the promised "credit towards season 3 pass" for PS3 people who bought season 2 pass late and never got the option to purchase Season 3 pass, that's an entirely different can of worms...

I had thoroughly planned to buy Season 3 Pro Pack for PC, like I had for Seasons 1 and 2. But I had gotten too busy with work, and hadn't had an opportunity to do anything related to TPA recently. Then I finally have a chance again to play and buy Season 3 Pass the last couple of days, and I find this announcement that it's been pulled from all platforms.

I agree with what others have said, that the poor part of this is that FarSight says they are doing it across all platforms because of of Apple. Since this has made unhappy the typically loyal fans of this forum (none of whom I have seen find this to be a fair decision), I imagine that FS has really ticked off the non-forum members which vastly outnumber, many times over, us fans.

I guess playing indefinitely free Demos will replace much of the business that could have gone to purchase of Season 3 Passes. Of course FarSight loses revenue when that happens.

I got an email from FS after asking a second time. They are going to work something out for us.

I know they said they were pulling the season 3 packs from all platforms but, so far, they still APPEAR to be available on Steam. At least I see them on the TPA page as DLC.

Man, I love my pre-purchased Season 3 pack on Steam. It's like I'm in the 'Pinball Of The Month Club'. Tables just show up when they're done, no effort on my behalf!

Let's hope they figure out something out for season 4 because this feeling is, indeed, great ^^

They better; it's just baffling to make other platforms worse because of the restrictions on one platform. By that logic, Steam should only be able to release tables and updates as often as PS3 does.

I don't know what kind of issues Apple has had with season passes on iOS. I imagine it was a few bad developers not fulfilling their promises and spoiling it for everyone. It seems a shame to disallow them entirely based on that, though, rather than figuring out a way to deal with those on a case-by-case basis. I'm pretty sure season passes are here to stay on console and PC. In my opinion, TPA has one of the few that is actually worth buying, but I still respect other games' ability to offer them to those that are interested.

That will need a massive logistic from Apple's side to figure out who is reliable and who is not. I think it is an excellent policy to protect their custommers from fraud, because we all know the digital world is filled with folks who do nothing else than spending their days finding ways to ripp people off. Too bad for us we can't profit from a season pass deal, but that's the way it is and for the best of us custommers in terms of safety and protection.

Speak for yourself. That's just the way it is and it's all for our own best, right? Apple does have a history of deciding for their customers what is best for their customers, and have their customers come back begging for more of the same, but I'd like to leave those alone in their own, happy walled garden. You'd think FS management (and this is something that would be decided or at least signed off on at the level of Jay Obernolte) would understand that Apple customers are a different species altogether.

I've purchased Farsight software since '04 or '05 (not sure when I got PHoF: The Gottlieb Collection for PS2) and I want the option to choose to pre-purchase the 10 tables of Season 3, knowing full well that unfortunate things might happen and knowing that once I get Table #6, I will break even anyway. The non-PSN platforms are already halfway there by now.

Wow, MWink and Epsy, after I saw your posts below mine, I fired up my PC TPA. I found that Season 3 Pack and Pro Pack were both available to buy from directly within TPA. I then checked out the Steam Store, and they were available for me to buy there as well, as MWink had mentioned. I quickly just bought the Season 3 Pro Pack on Steam. Then for fun I just looked in my Kindle Fire TPA, and I see that Season 3 Pack and Season 3 Pro Pack are both available to buy on the Kindle Fire as well. I am so happy that I did my post yesterday as the thread had been quiet for a week (and before that had switched to the topic of "licorice"). And I'm glad I checked back today. Thanks MWink and Epsy. Most of all thanks FarSight for providing for purchase Season 3 Pack and Pro Pack again!

"Apple customers are a different species altogether"…

Interesting point of view you have on Apple users.
