Hi vfpcoder - My work trip was shorted than expected so I came back home this morning. I tried launching the DX11 Normal version and can confirm that the playfield launches on the incorrect monitor (ie: on Monitor 2 which has the backglass/DMD in the cab version).
Sorry to hear it didn't work for you - so it may have been a fluke for me. My cable was a DVI-D Single-link (re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface)
Your thinking is correct no special windows config, but I will describe it for others as well in detail.
I am just changing the drop-down. From what I understand the 3 screen option just tells TPA to render a separate movable window for the DMD which we can position anywhere. With 2 screens we...
:) Yes I am relieved this 'workaround' works now with a different cable setup, but I suspect it still might be a coding/timing issue that Farsight should try and address. ie: View 4 was working with the old cable config so what are the other views doing - someone mentioned post processing...
Finally! Working Smoothly in ALL Views!
I finally managed to get smooth ball movement at a full 60fps in all views across about 6 tables that I tested, using the cab beta v1.70.27.
All I did was change a bloody cable. I hope this will work for others.
For my test I used the 2-screen setup...

1/ I am Windows 7 64-bit. Is 64-bit relevant here...?
2/ "the only thing they've asked is what type of external screens am I using" - same for me, that was the only request about 2 weeks ago.
3/ I also tried various set compatibility mode settings but made no difference.
I don't think the slowdowns have anything to do with peoples computer skills. Most of us on here built cabs and know how to finely tune PCs and have done so for VP for years,. Speaking for myself I am a computer programmer for a living and programmed games in the past in assembler, and I know...
gust334 - Just to clarify it was Alt-Tab that I mentioned (not alt-enter) increases the FPS for me from 30 to 54 but the ball is not smooth, it is stuttery but I told Farsight in case it gives a clue - this does not work for everyone. I tried alt-enter also as I knew about that but didn't...
I only did the first two steps exactly as seattlemark mentioned and it worked for me. I didn't add any launch.options. Not sure if it makes a difference but I also had the enable steam overlay ticked in the global steam options under in-game.
Also make sure your playfield dimensions are...
Weird how view 4 plays smoothly for so many of us who have a performance hit with views 1-3. What is it about the coding/rendering of those views that impacts the performance so much? And with high-end graphics cards too? If it is related to having to render a second or third screen then why...
Although the alt-tabbing helps the FPS increase from 30 to 55ish the ball movement isn't smooth with intermittent stutters so it is quite unplayable for me. Is is completely smooth for you after a alt-tab like it is in the flat view?
I tested the first Cabinet beta this morning and still get issues, although just ONCE it played well.
I emailed Rob at Farsight my logs as requested by Arcooda.
Here is what I said in case it helps others:
I do a fair bit of flying (mostly 1.5 hour flights in Europe) and normally I don't listen to anything so the flight usually feels like forever. These podcasts made the time shoot by so I will definitely will be listening to them going forward :). Many thanks to you both for putting them...
I hadn't listened to the podcasts for ages, but during the past week I did a fair bit of flying so downloaded and listened to 3 recent ones (Bobby interview, WMS speculation, Arcooda). Really enjoyed them all particularly the Arcooda one and the humourous WMS licence speculation (man your...
